Losmandy offers this 4"-long V-Series Dovetail Plate to support their Secondary Mounting System, which allows dual-mounting of smaller OTAs and accessories on their heavy-duty mounts. The plate is configured with a smaller Vixen-style dovetail, and made out of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy with a scratch-resistant black anodized finish. This version of the plate has pre-drilled holes set at common intervals, with three 1/4"-20 drilled and tapped mounting holes. A laser-engraved scale on the side clearly denotes half-inch increments with whole numbers marked.

Losmandy VUP4 Reviews
Good way to mount a telephoto lens on a tracker
I have a middle-weight star tracker and am using a good telephoto lens (Canon RF 100-500 + 2X TC) instead of a telescope. This dovetail plate can be bolted to the lens foot with a 1 long 1/4 x 20 bolt. Caveats: I needed a thin washer under the bolt head as the foot threads were marginally deep enough. To orient the plate parallel to the lens I had to drill out the threads (easy with a decent bit). Careful parallel orientation is important. To get good friction I put gaffer's tape on the plate. There is a lot of flex in the lens foot, even with the rotation ring tight, but it hasn't been a problem with tracking. I put another bolt in the front hole to act as a stop in case the plate slips. Also fits directly on the camera body for wide-field Milky Way shots with a short lens.
better quality
The Losmandy gear just feels better in hand than the lighter weight cheap aluminum gear. And the threads are always perfectly done. Not that much more $$$.
Solid mount
Works great for mounting camera to a tracking mount. I paired it with a Desmond DAC-100B 100mm Skeleton Clamp to give me quick release capabilities.
Mount your photo gear on an astronomy platform
Losmandy top quality solid plate. Bolt your photo gear to it and install on your star gazer mount.
New dovetail plate
Now able to mount sigma 150-600 on celestron AXX telescope mount! Excellent so far. Might make sense/convenience to have the mounting screws metric hex versus 3/16 but not a problem.
Fits My Needs
Bought this to mount a Coronado PST to a Vixen dovetail mount on a SkyWatcher HEQ5 telescope mount. The slot length for the 1/4-20 screws (included) matches the double hole spacing of the PST exactly, holding the scope nice and firmly, and always square to the mount. May order another one or two for other small accessories on the telescope mount.
Short Losmandy dovetail plate
I have a 90mm refractor that I use for travel. I replaced the focuser with a dual-speed Crayford, the red-dot finder with a visual finder plus laser pointer, and the 1.25 diagonal with a 2 dielectric diagonal. These new parts made the scope back-heavy, and the dovetail plate was too far forward to achieve balance. I bought two new tube rings and a 4 Losmandy dovetail plate and installed them behind the existing plate. Now I easily achieve perfect balance.
Great product
Solid construction, scale on the side and comes with a screw
