Canon 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 overview

  • 1Description

Covering wide-angle to telephoto focal lengths, the graphite EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM from Canon is an 8.3x zoom designed for EF-M-mount mirrorless cameras, where it provides a 28.8-240mm equivalent focal length. A sophisticated optical design is employed to maintain a compact, lightweight form factor along with consistent, even illumination and sharpness throughout the zoom range. Benefitting multimedia shooters, an STM stepping AF motor is employed for quick, smooth, and near-silent focusing performance that is especially useful for video applications. An Image Stabilizer is also featured to reduce the appearance of camera shake by up to four stops for sharper handheld shooting. This also enables Combination IS, when used with the EOS M5 camera, for improved image stabilization while shooting video. A panning feature is also supported with the EOS M5 for more stabilized results when photographing laterally moving subjects.

A versatile wide-angle to telephoto zoom, this 18-150mm lens is designed for APS-C-format EF-M-mount mirrorless cameras, and provides a 28.8-240mm equivalent focal length range.
Optical design maintains even sharpness and illumination throughout the zoom range.
A maximum magnification of 0.31x at the 150mm focal length position benefits working with close-up subjects.
An Image Stabilizer minimizes the appearance of camera shake by up to four shutter speed stops for sharper handheld shooting.
When used in conjunction with the EOS M5 camera, Combination IS is available for enhanced image stabilization while shooting video, which employs both camera-based IS and lens-based IS for more effective correction.
Stabilized panning is also available with the EOS M5, which automatically adjusts the panning speed for more effective subject tracking.

    Canon 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 reviews

EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM Lens (Graphite) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Carry-Around Lens This lens is a good carry-around lens for Canon M-series cameras. It is light weight and adequately sharp for everyday use. While I own both the 6D and the 7D II, there are many times that I just don't want to be saddled with heavier equipment and my M5 with the 18-150mm lens is what I reach for. The lens is well built. Even though the bayonet mount is Delrin plastic I don't find that to be a problem. The only reason I gave it a 4-star rating is that I have found it is not quite tack sharp at the 150mm setting. Bottom line - I can highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best M lens to date Having owned the M1, M2, M3 & M5 series cameras, and all the EF-M Lenses (except for the lighted macro) I can say this is the very best EF-M lens to date. The size, balance and build quality are closer to what I expect from Canon than some of the other M-Zooms, and image quality, in good lighting, is almost as good as the EF-M 22mm f/2 STM. Recognizing that the M-Series is a crop sensor, I find it equivalent to the EF 24-105MM F/4L IS USM in terms of utility and IQ. Initially I started using the M-Series for backpacking, but I am finding that I often leave my EOS 5D-M3 & L-lenses at home as I have been very happy with the images from the EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM. I have also started to leave my other EF-M lenses as well. This lens, the EF-M 22MM F/2 STM and the EF-M 11–22 f/4–5.6 IS STM cover well with a very small kit. Cons: #1 -Pricey #2 Not on the CPL list. #3 - Not a "L" weather/dust sealed lens

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The one lens you need on your M3! I was looking for a Leave on Camera lens for most situations. This is it! With the exception of only needing a wide angle lens as a carry along this works great. Very sharp even when compared to my L lens's. Light and just a little larger than the shorter lens that came with the M3. Set it to 100mm full frame equivalent and it is great for head shots and other close work. Super lens!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible Lens! I replaced my Canon 24-105L and EF to EFM adapter with this lens and never looked back. I could not be happier. I am proud to use this lens. The image stabilization is awesome, sharpness is incredible, and it feels good in the hand. It's a great choice for a multipurpose photographer looking for a single lens solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Range of the EF-M 18-150 is Amazing! I mainly use a 5DIV with 24-70 II attached all the time, but decided to go smaller. Got the M100, M50 and several lenses, but decided I needed this one as my go to lens for all purposes. I've had it for a week now and used it for several events. I'm still not used to the mirrorless format yet, but I like it so far. This lens is very nice. Seems to be cost effective and easy to use. If you need to buy just one lens for wide to telephoto, this one is the best in the line up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good overall lens. This is a great general overall lens and it stays on my Canon M6.I have had no problems with the lens hood that I ordered with it. The only issue I have with the lens is that the part of the lens that moves to zoom in and out seems to slide a bit too easy, but not enough to worry about shooting at different angle. Don't know if this is just an issue with this model or just my lens.
