Nikon KeyMission 170 Overview

The Nikon KeyMission 170 is a rugged and advanced action camera that captures up to Ultra HD 4K resolution at 30/25 fps. Offering an ultra-wide 170° angle of view, it allows you to record an immersive view of your surroundings in high detail. You can also capture Full HD 1080p video at up to 120 fps slow-motion, 720p HD at 200/240 fps super-slow-motion, and high-resolution still images.

The KeyMission 170 is built to withstand the elements: Without any extra housing, it is waterproof down to 33 ft, shockproof from 6.6 ft, freezeproof, and dustproof. Aside from making the camera more convenient to use, not requiring a housing allows for cleaner image and audio capture, since there are no additional layers between the lens and microphone and your subject. Like the rest of the KeyMission series, the KeyMission 170 uses a glass Nikon Nikkor lens, representing Nikon's commitment to this lineup.

The KeyMission 170 also features internal electronic Vibration Reduction (for 1080p and 720p capture) that will reduce the effects of shakes and jitters in your outdoor adventures, providing you with a smoother image. A free-to-download Nikon control and playback app is also included with the camera that's compatible with both iOS and Android mobile devices.

A 1.5" display on the rear will allow you to set up and monitor your shots in real time as well as play them back for instant review. The included battery will run up to 110 minutes when capturing video, up to 250 shots when capturing stills, or up to an entire hour underwater.

The KeyMission 170 comes with a varied set of accessories, including a remote control, lens protector to prevent scratches, and underwater lens protector that will allow you to achieve better focus underwater. Additionally, it supports many more optional KeyMission accessories for riding, watersports, and everyday outdoor activities.

Yes it will - if your computer will accept an HDMI signal: You can output the live image appearing through the lens and the audio obtained from the microphone to an HDMI-supported device.

What is the aspect ratio on the still images?
Asked by: Sean
he Nikon KeyMission 170 doesn't let you choose different aspect ratios when shooting still images, so you are stuck with 16:9 aspect ratio, 8.3 megapixel photos. Fixed focus of the lens means the camera isn't suitable for very close subjects, with the focus range starting at 40cm.

Unfortunately there is no specific time Nikon has put out to answer that questions. That time would depend on the battery level, what frame rate , and resolution you were shooting at.

The connector on the KeyMission 170 is a micro HDMI. You need a cable that is micro HDMI to standard HDMI to connect to an HDMI monitor.

question

Can I produce a photo from a 4K movie in Nikon Software on my computer?
Asked by: Robert
The KeyMission Utility software allows for screen capture from movie playback, along with other basic video editing functions. The resolution of the screen capture image is based on the app scale and resolution of the display device. You would probably do much better with video editing software.
