Rokinon 20mm T1.9 Cine DS Overview

Utilizing a multi-layer coating process for consistent color rendition from lens to lens the Rokinon 20mm T1.9 Cine DS Lens answers the challenge of assembling a set of lenses over time. The lens has a Sony E-mount and features industry standard geared focus and iris rings that share common position with other Rokinon Cine DS lenses. To aid focus pullers who have to work both sides of the lens, the aperture and focus scales are marked on both sides of the lens.

This 20mm lens produces 94.8° angle of view when used with full-frame cameras. Hybrid aspherical lenses render sharply defined images with a minimum of distortion and chromatic aberrations, with a minimum focus distance of just under 8" from the lens. A removable petal shaped lens hood provides flare protection when shooting without a matte box, the lenses threaded front accepts a 77mm filter ring. Please note that you may need to disengage your camera's Shutter Lock when using this lens on a Sony E-mount camera.

The image from this lens is pleasing overall, and the focal length is perfect for my style of shooting. There's a definite increase in CA over equivalent Canon and Sigma lenses, but not too extreme

Wow is amazing lens I love it A fast, shaprp and affordable lens for any camera or dslr with EF mount. Matches the other Cine DS Rokinon lenses in color and size. I dont think there is much use of opening it wider than T2.8, but it is almost as good as Compact Primes. I RECOMMEND TO buy this lens is AMAZiNG

I'm a fan of Elite Brands lenses and am working on the cine ds set, have three so far. Apart from the lens hood there is little not to like. I found some vignetting at T1.9, but quite even by T2.8. I 'borrowed' the Sony 20mm lens profile for editing. Centring seems good and this is a bright lens! So if you want to combine wide apertures with sunny days, consider a neutral density filter.

Excellent Optic - the flower hood is not ideal. I've been using it on my Lumix G95 - it suffers same issue as the 50mm Rokinon with a similar hood in terms of Glare and angle you can use before running into the problem / sun spots appearing in a frame - I did gaffer tape wrap the hood a bit and it gained significantly on glare angle. I'd not hesitate to recommend it as a lens, at T2.8 onward it is impressive. It is also a good size for a lot of work conditions and should prove very useful to have in ones Kit.

We recently purchased a Canon 6D mark II and I wished to do video recordings but needed a wider lens. This one covers an area of 92 degrees. We found it a great lens for the videos without any grey areas, out of focus areas, no aberrations or any other issues. With enough light, we set it at F-8, or higher, the range at 5 feet and everything was in focus and sharp! It worked well for close-up shots. With low light, setting it at F 1.9 to 2.8 produced great images. Overall, it's a great lens and we are looking at adding more Rokinon lens in future.

Is this essentially the same lens as the 20mm f1.8, but for Cine?

If you are referring to BH #RO2018CES then yes, optically it is pretty much the same lens. The difference is the Cinema version has gear rings included and a de-clicked aperture.

This is an MFT mount lens that will be subject to the crop factor of the camera you put it on. It will be subject to the 1.9x crop factor of the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K.
