The green WalkAbout Air from MeFoto is a "twist" on the classic WalkAbout monopod design—implementing MeFoto's HyperLock system to both reduce weight and simplify functionality.

Improving the monopod's ease-of-use, the HyperLock system reduces the amount of locking knobs from four to just one. All that's required to extend the WalkAbout's leg is to twist the foot, extend the leg, and then twist the foot again to lock the leg at the desired height. When at full working height the Walkabout Air can reach 59.1" and when fully collapsed it folds down to just 13.4" for transport or storage.

For those used to traditional lock designs, don't allow the HyperLock's looks to fool you—the WalkAbout Air is capable of supporting up to 22.1 lb of solid camera gear—and weighs only 0.9 lb. The WalkAbout, as its name implies, can even double as a walking stick for outdoor excursions. The top portion of the monopod is wrapped with a translucent silicon hand grip just for this purpose and an adjustable hand strap is included to make sure the monopod, and your gear, don't get away from you.

Although the WalkAbout is designed for direct camera mounting, it's 1/4"-20 mounting thread can be adapted to fit small heads or quick release clamps if required. Additionally, the top section's anodized-aluminum exterior is available in seven different colors and offers some light resistance to everyday wear and tear.

WalkAbout Air Aluminum Monopod (Green) is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Expected something better. Starting with the secondary feature, at a max load of 20 lbs, I would not use this as a walking stick as it's frankly less than the amount of force a reasonable human can put into it. It will shorten on you. With that said, it seems to function as intended for my camera set-up. It doesn't really wobble, is light, and short enough to carry closed without being obtrusive like other mono/tripods. The hyperlock system was what really attracted me to this, but I find that I want to double check each section (due to 1st paragraph) to see if they're secure which kind of defeats the ease it's suppose to bring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and compact I am using it with Sony a7r II and Sony 70 -200 F2.8 lens. Its gives me required stability. Its light and compact which were the reason I bought it for. The collapsing and extending mechanism works fast. It comes with a nice pouch (cover) which also has a shoulder strap.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cool concept but I suggest you pass I don't own it, but I've played with it for a bit at the Camera mall in Shanghai, China. It looks pretty slick and I like the concept of a single action twist to lock/unlock the legs, but the execution doesn't work well. After unlocking and extending the legs the locking just doesn't feel secure. The major problem however is that it's too easy to accidentally collapse the entire monopod because of the single twist to unlocks all sections at once. It's great when for you want to collapse the monopod (a single quick twist) but that same quick twist done accidentally will collapse the whole leg instead of a single section. And the twist in this thing just doesn't have that strong of a hold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact and sturdy I've had this monopod out in the field several times to shoot soccer games with my Nikon D7200 and Tamron 70-300mm lens--not a super lightweight setup. When locked tightly, this monopod has not shortened on me under load. It's quite sturdy and does not wobble noticeably or feel flimsy. I'm also very happy with its very compact size when collapsed, making it easy to carry into the field.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sturdy, light and compact I haven't had a chance yet to field test this monopod but so far it is exactly as I expected. It's reasonably sturdy, compact, quite light and the leg extending/locking mechanism is quick and sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect When Restricted On Weight I have used this Monopod in Africa and also Alaska. It proved to be just the thing I needed. I used a Canon 5D Mark 3 with a battery pack and a Canon 100-400 lens. This is not a light set up. It did not collapse and was perfect. I paired it with the Manfrotto MHXPRO-BHQ2

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Negotiations review Not happy with this product. No matter how tight I twist the segments to lock, they collapse with weight and pressure.
