The black GlobeTrotter Air Travel Tripod from MeFoto is a sturdy, lightweight, and compact aluminum-alloy support designed for the modern enthusiast and smartphone photographer.

Extending to a maximum height of 68.1" and capable of supporting up to 17.6 lb, the GlobeTrotter Air is not all that different from its Classic series sibling—with one big difference—HyperLocks. The telescoping 5-section HyperLock design allows the user to set-up and break-down the tripod with speed and ease by simply turning the rubber foot in one direction to extend the leg and in the opposite direction to lock it at the desired length. This design also helps to reduce the tripod's overall weight down to a transportable 3.2 lb.

Appealing to both system camera users and smartphone photographers, the Air series comes equipped with a few features that many users will find both fashionable and functional. Starting off, the Air series features a color-matched Arca-type compatible ball head, which not only includes a color matched Arca-type plate, but is also capable of independent 360° pans—an uncommon feature on a ball head this compact. Secondly, the entire center column may be removed from the tripod and, using HyperLock technology, is capable of extending into a stand-alone selfie stick. A folding smartphone adapter is included for convenience as is a universal Bluetooth remote capable of triggering the camera on most smartphones. Lastly, MeFoto aims to make user manuals a thing of the past with new intuitive icons on the tripod's body. Each icon is placed at a point of interest or adjustment and details, in easy-to-understand pictograms, how to adjust the tripod for any shooting situation.

For those looking to use the GlobeTrotter Air for low-angle photos or on a table top, each one of the tripod's anodized aluminum legs can be spread independently down to a minimum height of 12". The 3-position leg angle stops allow the user to adjust the tripod's height to accommodate almost any shooting situation. Additionally, a removable spring-loaded hook is located in a recess at the bottom of the center column, allowing you to hang a variety of weighted objects to increase the tripod's overall stability.

As a travel tripod, the GlobeTrotter Air is designed to fold in an inverted style with the 3 legs collapsing upward around the center column. This design allows the GlobeTrotter to attain a compact folded length of just 12.2", which fits conveniently within the included soft carrying case.

HyperLock Leg Locks

The HyperLock design allows the user to set-up and break-down with a single knob.

Built-In Selfie Stick

The integrated Selfie Stick utilizes the ball head for positioning and includes a Smartphone adapter and Bluetooth remote.

Lightweight and Compact

Fits into luggage and won't weigh you down with a folded length of 12.2" and a weight of just 3.2 lb.

Simple Set-Up

User-friendly icons highlight points of adjustment on the tripod and make user manuals a thing of the past.

Dual Action Ball Head

Included ball head features a primary lock, separate 360° independent pan lock, and utilizes an industry standard Arca-type compatible quick release.

will this hold steady a 150-600mm lens?

will this hold steady a 150-600mm lens?
Asked by: E.L.
Yes. The MeFOTO GlobeTrotter Air Travel Tripod has a maximum load capacity of 17.6 lbs. As the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports weighs 6.3 lbs, and the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II (one of the heaviest cameras for which the aforementioned lens is compatible for use) weighs 3.37 lbs, together, the above setup would be 9.67 lbs. As long as you are supporting the camera/lens setup using the tripod collar on the lens, which attempts to balance the lens near the setup's center of gravity, the MeFOTO GlobeTrotter Air Travel Tripod should be more than strong enough to support the aforementioned camera/lens setup.

Can the ballhead be removed?
Asked by: Dan
actually, it can. its not easy though. you need to hold the top most section and really grab the ball head, and in a quick motion, unscrew it. there is a bit of blue lock-tite on there. you will need to re-apply the lock-tite on the replacement head.

Is the folded length of the Globe Trotter Air 16.7 inches as per the video, or 12.2 as per the B&H specs?
Asked by: raymond
The tripod folds to 12.2 by flipping the legs up 180 degrees from normal and adjusting the center post up to match the legs. This is the position as delivered from the factory.

Rather than grabbing a leg foot to twist-lock or twist-unlock, which can get hands dirty, instead can one twist-lock & twist-unlock a leg by grabbing an exposed section of the lowest leg?
Asked by: John
Yes! You can grab an exposed section of the lower leg and twist-lock. But, it is easier to grab the leg foot.

Can telescoping leg sections be disassembled to clean grit & moisture from their interiors? When at the ocean, a tripod may be positioned in saltwater, so need to clean out interior tube sections.
Asked by: John
I've only had the rig for a little over a week. I tried to break it down, but I wasn't able to and I'm on a trip without the instructions. The setup comes with an Allen wrench to adjust/remove the 6 bolts that keep the legs mounted. There's also a Phillips bolt in between the two fingers that attach the legs to the base of the center mount. I wasn't able to completely break down the leg for cleaning/drying them out, but I didn't want to force anything.
