HP 14-ax010nr overview

  • 1Description

The 14" Stream 14-ax010nr Laptop from HP is a portable and lightweight notebook designed for users on the go. It's powered by a 1.6 GHz Intel Celeron N3060 Dual-Core processor and 4GB of 1600 MHz DDR3L RAM that enables it to efficiently multitask and quickly access frequently used files and programs. When handling a heavier workload, the CPU can reach a burst frequency of 2.48 GHz.

Its 14" SVA display, driven by integrated Intel HD graphics, has a 1366 x 768 resolution for crisp and clear HD content reproduction. Using the HDMI port, connect an external monitor for further functionality. For storage, this system is equipped with 32GB of eMMC flash storage. While it's not a lot, you can connect additional storage solutions via its multiple USB ports as well as its media card reader, which also can be used to quickly transfer files from mobile devices.

Windows 10 Home

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Laptop, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

    HP 14-ax010nr reviews

14" Stream 14-ax010nr Notebook (Aqua Blue) is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 55.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Computer for the Money Having purchased 14 HP Stream 11 computers almost three years ago, we decided to go the same route this year with the purchase of nine HP Stream 14 computers. They are used for several hours a day and are great for elementary students who use the internet for research and web-based learning. There isn't the kind of memory needed to download items requiring storage, which isn't a concern for us since we use web applications and cloud storage for everything. After about 2.5 years we found that a few of the 14 originally bought were beginning to have issues. At the three-year mark a few were no longer working.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice light laptop but crippled. I wanted an inexpensive, simple and light laptop with 13 or 14 inch screen and Windows OS this fit that very well. Problem came with installing latest Windows 10 updates. That is the first thing I did after starting it up the first time. Either Windows 10 takes more memory than necessary or the Hard Drive memory is not large enough. When the updates finished downloading I got a message there was not enough hard drive space to install. It took two days of reading forums and contacting support to get the updates installed. After that I did a Reset on the laptop hoping a clean install would get more drive space. I removed McAfee trial and Office 365 trial and now have about 9GB free. I install the other software I want to use on an SD card and access it there. Now it works quite good. I was about ready to return it. More hard drive space or better update procedure or abbreviated Windows OS would make this a very nice laptop and I would recommend it to friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good laptop for the price Good laptop, easy to set up and use, not a ton of memory but add a good thumb drive to save photos and you're set.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid laptop for the price, could use some help I bought this laptop primarily for school and editing videos and so far it has done a very good job. For this price range the features are very good. Keys are excellent, the color is amazing, graphics are solid, it comes with office for a year which is very useful especially for school. One of the best things about it though are the speakers, they are incredible. Very crisp sounds and get loud if you want it. Now the downsides, if you get this laptop get an external hard drive the 32gb is not enough space at all. I have very few extra things downloaded and its all ready at 27gb with updates and all. It does get slow at times if you have to many things open or are trying to move to fast. It could use a better processor but it gets the job done. All in all the laptop does what you would expect of it, and for this price range I'd say its a top contender.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Totally Useless This product is fatally flawed. Every few days it downloads a Windows 10 update, and throws an old copy of Windows on the HD, consuming 10 GB. Since W10 consumes 10 GB already, that shuts down the hard drive, so you can't even search the internet for a solution. Then guess what, HP Tech support won't support any model bought at a retailer, they direct you to Microsoft Tech, and of course they won't support it, so your done.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for college students It was a good laptop at first, but then it slowly declined. There isn't much storage, so I wasn't able to download pictures from my phone or any apps from the store (which the app store sucks too). It isn't touch screen, which is frustrating, and the keys don't light up at night. I've only had this laptop for over a year. I also need to be able to keep several tabs open for schoolwork, but the computer is too slow. I know it's not because of internet because it's slow to open tabs under all different wifis. Trust me, its got a low price for a reason.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not for everyone This laptop is not for everyone. you need to know your purpose before buying this or you will be very frustrated. I had a particular purpose and it fits my purpose well. I needed a very light laptop to go into my backpack and carry around every day. I read online journals a lot and hence needed a long battery life in my laptop, and this is very good for reading as its 14-inch screen in good. battery life is excellent. it's silent, which is awesome, no sounds, no heat. But beware, even if this is your purpose, the laptop can get very slow at times of browsing if you do not know how to change some background setting on win 10. out of the box, the laptop will disappoint you a lot even for basic web browsing performance, but if you know your purpose and know to tweak some settings and with a lot of patients, it'll work fine. so think twice before buying, even though this laptop is cheap to buy. Also note that usable memory is only 10 GB and webcam is VGA which is horrible. Using it for a week now and now I can say its a good buy for me as it meets my needs.
