HP 11-y010nr overview

  • 1Description

The 11.6" Stream 11-y010nr Laptop from HP is a portable and lightweight notebook designed for users on the go. It's powered by a 1.6 GHz Intel Celeron N3060 Dual-Core processor and 4GB of 1600 MHz DDR3L RAM that enables it to efficiently multitask and quickly access frequently used files and programs. When handling a heavier workload, the CPU can reach a burst frequency of 2.48 GHz.

Its 11.6" SVA display, driven by integrated Intel HD graphics, has a 1366 x 768 resolution for crisp and clear HD content reproduction. Using the HDMI port, connect an external monitor for further functionality. For storage, this system is equipped with 32GB of eMMC flash storage. While it's not a lot, you can connect additional storage solutions via its multiple USB ports as well as its media card reader, which also can be used to quickly transfer files from mobile devices.

Access the Internet via 802.11ac 2x2 Wi-Fi and pair compatible wireless peripherals via Bluetooth 4.0 technology. Other integrated features include a webcam, speakers, microphones, and a 3.5 mm microphone and headphone combo jack. The operating system installed is Windows 10 Home (64-bit).

Windows 10 Home

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Laptop, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

    HP 11-y010nr reviews

11.6" Stream 11-y010nr Notebook (Aqua Blue) is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 52.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Basically Perfect I honestly don't know why people are giving this laptop a terrible review. If you're trying to do much more than the basic tasks, yeah, this isn't the laptop for you. Personally, I bought this laptop for school purposes only. It loads fast, internet is great on it, I've never had a problem. I don't keep files on my laptop. This is how it keeps it running clean. Anything I do need is on my One Drive, flash drive, or my desktop computer. But for portability, basic tasks, and school or travel purposes this is perfect. I've had this laptop for almost two years now, and it's still practically new. I love it! I built my own desktop computer so I don't need anything other than basic when it came to having a laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value Originally, I bought this laptop for my daughter, but to my surprise I found out that it is useful even for me. The laptop can handle even rather large Excel files (about 12 MB), and I do appreciate the 1yr. Office 365 subscription. The touchpad is very good. I have had many laptops with touchpads in the past, but I had to use a wireless mouse with them to be productive. The touchpad on the HP Stream is so good that I do not have to use an external mouse at all. I do not use the internal storage for anything except a few files on the desktop (and Win 10, of course). I have a 128 GB SD card plugged in at all times and I am thinking about upgrading to 200 GB or 256 GB SD. Overall, a great value for the money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Applying for RMA/Refund -- Resetting PC again My first very positivereview was after 2 - 3 days. It started eating my C: drive -- 12 GB to 9 to 7 to 5 and finally just over 3 GB. I have had to Reset the PC as WIndows Update did not have enough C: free space to run, and even Reset would not run to completion until I cleared some of C:, including some stuff I wasn't sure I should clear. Sanjay in support was very helpful and knowledgeable, but we could not resolve the issues. I thought about contacting SmartFriend as he suggested, but the PC bogs down with just a small number of added apps, and I can see it won't meet my needs. I was able to clear enough stuff off the C: to finally do a successful reset (it was down to about 3.3 GB of free space and still dropping). That has happened again and I am done with this machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty good! A pretty good laptop. The screen is a bit hard to clean, being recessed. The keyboard is great - best laptop keyboard I've ever used. The battery life isn't good - about 5h. Windows is a terrible pain (burns through disk space like nothing you've seen before) so I installed Linux Mint, which works perfectly with all the laptop's components. I would be overjoyed if HP introduced a version with Mint preinstalled! Overall, good experience. Best part: keyboard. Worst part: battery life.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good For Its Price This laptop is rather good for what is advertised. The 4GB RAM and 1.6 GHz processing rate are sufficient for what I needed. I can Run CERN ROOT on it with little issue, and I can run Mathematica on it with a reasonable speed as well. It is certainly nowhere near the most powerful computer that I've ever had, but it outdoes any that I've used for more official work. Its file transfer speed is rather fast, which is nice. I put Linux on mine, which works very well. It runs much faster and cooler than Windows 10. Windows 10 does not run as quickly as I would like on this. But again my use of Linux forwent this. The MicroSD port is very nice as well. I was wary at first of the small capacity of the hard drive, but the SD port makes up for that. I liked the design a lot as well. I wish that I could find a more powerful unit with this kind of housing. A lot of my friends said that they liked how it looks as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible, Discrace of a “Laptop” I get that this is a cheaper laptop, and I’ve had it for a little while now; but I completely regret not returning it and saving up a little bit more. It may be able to do VERY basic functions, like looking some stuff up(though it has problems even doing that). For any actual work, it is completely useless. It barely has the storage to download the Microsoft Office apps, to where I can’t have anything else downloaded. Then, it constantly tries to update, though it doesn’t have the memory, and I’m trying to update: crashes the “laptop” and then I can’t do anything. If you plan on getting it, trust me, just get a little more expensive laptop; it’ll be worth it. I’m currently just waiting to have the money to offload this piece of junk and get an actually good laptop.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It's ok If you don't like for your pages to be exed out for no reason, or you, like myself, find it annoying for your page to zoom in or out while you're trying to scroll, don't get this laptop. On many occasions, pages have been exed out and I've had to refill applications over from the beginning because of this laptop. I understand the "you get what you pay for" principle, but I expected a little more out of HP. The laptop has little storage space (which is expected for this product, and that is no surprise because one is informed of this in the beginning), just a heads up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 32 GB Disk Does Not Support Windows 10 Updates I purchased the Stream 6 months ago to backup photos on an international trip using external flash memory. For this task it worked well. The new Windows 10 Upgrade required hp support to get 8 GB free and now I only have 4 GB free after compressing the drive and removing all none Windows 10 files and McAfee. I expect to have to trash it before I renew Office 360 or McAfee at 1 year due to zero available RAM drive. Not good planning by hp or me.
