Based on NVIDIA's Pascal architecture and featuring a factory overclocked core, the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW HYBRID GAMING Graphics Card provides major improvements in performance, memory bandwidth, and power efficiency over its predecessor, the high-performance Maxwell architecture. It also introduces innovative graphics features and technologies that redefine the computer as the platform for playing AAA games and taking full advantage of virtual reality via NVIDIA VRWorks.

The front panel of the card features a variety of outputs. There are three DisplayPort 1.4 outputs in addition to an HDMI 2.0b output and a DVI-D Dual-Link output. The GTX 1080 is not just about high-resolution gaming. Computationally intensive programs can utilize the GPU's 2560 cores to accelerate tasks using CUDA or other APIs. This GPU has an adjustable RGB LED that can be controlled in EVGA Precision X OC.

For cooling, EVGA features a 120mm fan and radiator as well as a closed loop liquid cooling system. The copper base can efficiently transfer heat to the circulation pump. Since it is a closed loop system, it does not require additional maintenance or assembly.

VRWorks Graphics includes a simultaneous multi-projection capability that renders natively to the unique dimensions of VR displays instead of traditional 2D monitors. It also renders geometry for the left and right eyes simultaneously in a single pass.

VRWorks Audio uses the NVIDIA OptiX ray-tracing engine to trace the path of sounds across an environment in real-time, fully reflecting the size, shape, and material of the virtual world.

NVIDIA PhysX for VR detects when a hand controller interacts with a virtual object, and enables the game engine to provide a physically accurate visual and haptic response. It also models the physical behavior of the virtual world around the user so that all interactions -- whether an explosion or a hand splashing through water -- behave as if in the real world.
With Ansel, gamers can compose the gameplay shots they want, pointing the camera in any direction and from any vantage point within a gaming world. They can capture screenshots at up to 32 times the screen resolution, and then zoom in where they choose without losing fidelity. With photo-filters, they can add effects in real-time before taking the shot. And they can capture 360-degree stereo photospheres for viewing in a VR headset or Google Cardboard.
SLI Ready
With a compatible motherboard and a connecting bracket, two or more NVIDIA GPUs of the same model can combine processing power using NVIDIA's Scalable Link Interface (SLI). How the cards work together can be customized to suit your preferences. Alternate frame rendering has each alternating card prepare the next frame, essentially multiplying the capabilities of a single card's maximum capable frame rate output. Each card in the configuration can also be used to improve anti-aliasing by being able to process an image in parallel with the other cards before filtering out jagged edges.

NVIDIA's SLI HB bridge doubles the available transfer bandwidth compared to the NVIDIA Maxwell architecture. Delivering smooth gameplay, it's an effective way to enjoy surround gaming and it's only compatible with the GeForce GTX 1080 graphics cards.

NVIDIA's parallel computing platform which enables an increase in computing performance by harnessing the parallel nature of GPU processing. CUDA compatible applications can assign intensive parallel computing tasks, such as real-time video rendering, to the GPU to process, freeing up the computer's CPU to run other tasks.
G-SYNC Ready
When used with a monitor that has G-SYNC hardware installed, the monitor's refresh rate will sync and lock with the graphics card's output frame rate. Establishing this sync removes tearing and stuttering which can result from conventional fixed screen refresh rates, especially important for gaming in stereoscopic 3D. An additional benefit of G-SYNC is reduced lag so gamers will benefit from the improved command response time as well.
NVIDIA GPU Boost 3.0
Boosts the card's clock speed in real-time based on the target temperature. If the card is running below the set target temperature, GPU Boost 3.0 will increase the clock speed to improve performance. The target temperature can be reset depending on your preference so you can have the card run more quietly for everyday tasks and older games, and run at full tilt during intense high-resolution gaming sequences.

    Rated 3 out of 5 by from The card runs awesome, way too loud at idle. This card runs cool, overclocks well, and really looks the part. But the pump on the built in water-cooler is very loud at idle. The pump makes a clearly audible buzzing sound constantly. I'm not sure if it is just my example or if others just don't hear this sound but it is unbearably loud for idle. Other than the pump being loud the included radiator fan is of disappointing quality and cannot be speed controlled. I highly recommend any one getting this card to replace the radiator fan with a quality model optimized for static pressure and to plug it into a controlled source rather than the lead on the GPU itself. I really want to like this card as it runs fantastic but I just can't, I will be sending it off to EVGA or returning to B&H.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Graphics Card for 2k Resolution This year upgraded to the Asus 2k 165 fps and had to upgrade my 970 to get full get full performance out of the monitor. What a difference, all games are running above 110 fps at highest settings.� I highly recommend this card if you are running 2k resolution. Card runs around 40 c during heavy use.� A lot of complaints that the card is loud... I have a push pull (corsair fans -�rear exhaust) set up and have the fans connected to the mother board. Noise levels are minimal and are not loud at all when using it in this configuration.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth it I slapped a Noctua fan on it, and the GPU Temperatures never get above 55?C. This runs anything I throw at it. AT 4K ULTRA! Yeah Wildlands may only be running at 40fps, but it's definitely not a problem in my opinion. I couldnt be happier with this card.

The only reason it does not receive 5 stars from me is due to the radiator fan running at 100% speed, 100% of the time it has any power from the PSU. I have not had any issues with the pump as some others have. THIS CARD IS NOT SILENT AS ADVERTISED. In fact I am kind of dissapointed in EVGA for not developing a more efficient cooling profile with regards to the radiator fan. The fan itself is a CHEAP piece of garbage which rattles and whines, which doesn't help when it's set to operate at 100% speed. This would have been a simple design yet EVGA dropped the ball hardcore on this one. Attention to detail, EVGA, attention to detail. I kind of wish I went with the MSI Seahawk instead. Guess that's what I get for being an EVGA fanboi.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glad I went hybrid Purchased two of these to run in SLI and so far I'm very happy with my choice to get the Hybrid model. Even with no space between the two cards, they peak at 55 degrees (+20 over ambient) under full load while benchmarking/stress-testing. The top card is only 2 degrees warmer than the bottom, despite the limited air flow to the blower fan... I wouldn't want to try this configuration with non-hybrid cards. Shipping from B&H was quick and the cards arrived in perfect condition.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from great card absolutely thrilled to have this card. it is undoubtedly one of the fastest gtx 1080's available, plus with the hybrid design it always has low temperatures (40-50 degrees under load) which is amazing for avoiding thermal throttling. this card does not suffer from the vrm overheating issues some evga cards have been due to the hybrid cooling of the card. b&h packed the card very well in the box and it had no damage to the box upon delivery.

Purchased this card for having a system that can run Oculus Rift, but also be pretty capable for GPU rendering via Redshift. Absolutely nothing but praise for this thing so far.
