MagMod MagBeam Tele Lens

Designed to work with the MagBeam, this MagBeam Tele Lens from MagMod will focus the output from your flash, improving distance and power. This can provide an additional 2-3 stops of usable light, enabling lower power settings and faster recycle times. Also, the MagBeam allows users to collapse the lens to different positions, permitting the creation of wider beam patterns that maintain a distinct shape with crisp edges.

It's pretty stupid how they word aren't more forward about the (maggrip not included) or (maggrip needed) Ive had it for weeks haven't been able to use it yet. The 2022 version of the grip is suppose to be coming to the camera store near me but it's vaguely pending release. I probably would have not bought this when I did had I known

Three months age I had never heard of this product until last month when watching utube videos by a well know food photographer. I bought it as an experiment and did several test setups with various subjects and lights. After doing so; I was very pleased with the results. Would I use this on every shot, no , but then again like all tools they have their place in the tool box. Fact is the more tools the better based upon your photographic needs.

Very cool accessory

I love my MagBeam kit - I've only used it a couple of times but the effects you can do are amazing. I'm looking forward to using it more and more.

Great for zooming or spreading flash, adding effects

The masks are great for creating textures in the light. The Fresnel lens turns your flash into a tight, bright beam, while the wide-angle lens expands the beam. Both are adjusted with the snoot-like MagBeam. This is a fun addition to my kit.

Not working as advertised

Doesn’t project the patterns as advertised. Images are either too dark or too bright of a light without the patterns showing. Paired with a Godoy AD200

Fun to play with

I love that this serves 2 purposes as I shoot wildlife and can use it for birds when needed and I can use it for indoor use with the cool patterns for a creative effect.

Love it! But know this...

Love it, but be sure you know how to use it; otherwise, like the MM guy says, physics will kick your butt! The wide angle lens (with the notch cut-out) is only used to project the Mag Mask pattern. Ensure the textured ridges point inward, toward the flash. Also, ensure the Magbeam is fully collapsed and not extended. Otherwise, it just won’t work. You can insert both the Mag Mask and a gel into the Mag Beam (no gel holder). I will have it so the laser cut mask is closest to the flash. I am not sure, but I don’t believe it works if you use a separate gel holder to hold the mask. To get more saturated colors, experiment with lowering the flash power and a really fast shutter speed to choke out the ambient light. Lastly, the wall should ideally be a darker gray and not white. If white, then be sure to use faster SS and decrease flash power.

Brenda.... The "MagBeam Kit" comes with the MagBeam Body, both the telephoto lens and the wide lens, as well as, the standard MagMask set of 4 masks. The only other thing you MIGHT need to have if you don't already is the MagGrip. The MagGrip will be how you connect it to your flash. You will also enjoy accessory add-on's such as the MagMask Pattern 1 and Pattern 2, and all of the MagGels work with it: Creative Gels, Artistic Gels and Standard Gels - all by MagMod.
