    MiniX Z83-4 reviews

NEO Z83-4 Fanless Mini PC is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Value If used within the device's means you can't go wrong. It is quiet, cool, small and quick. With 32GB internal drive space you are limited in the applications you can install. It comes with Windows 10 which is great and the ports are enough to expand hardware easily. Even supports 2 monitors. Highly recommended. As far as B&H is concerned, I have been doing business with them for 20 years and not once has there been even a minor glitch. I always buy from B&H if possible.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Good for Watching American Football Works well as Windows 10 interface to 4K TV - good static video display - but really does not handle streaming sports video such as CBS.com or NFL GamePass. A lot of pixelation and dropouts, no matter what configuration settings on either the MiniX or the 4K TV. The Microsoft Surface (2016) connected to 4K TV at same time and same channel provides much better resolution. Have 200 Mbs download speed, so I think it may be the frame rate (30 vs 60). Other than streaming fast-action video, seems to work well for general web surfing (Mozilla Firefox). I have a 3 Tb WD Passport external hard drive attached - works well. Note that of the 30 Gb in the internal drive, 15 Gb are used by the OS and the minimal software that is factory-installed, so an external hard drive is essential to run most other applications and for storage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works very well This was purchased for some application usage, and it works excellently. The design is compact and aesthetically pleasing. The item doesn't weight a lot and functions good. I had some initial concern as when I powered it up and let it run for a few hours, the unit got very hot, but it still functioned well. Lately it doesn't seem to heat up as much, so I don't know what that initial deal was about. All in all, I am quite pleased with this item.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great but only has DisplayPort 1.1a This computer does work well. It's a good machine for light duty work; I use it to manage a network of digital signage displays. The software I run doesn't require a lot of processing power and everything for our signage is stored on a server. However, it does have one limitation I wish I knew about. Based on my research of the Intel HD Graphics 4000 card (which this has), it only supports DisplayPort 1.1a. Meaning you can't daisy chain two monitors together through their in/out display ports. It does have two video outs, an HDMI and DisplayPort to allow you to use two monitors. But I have monitors that allow daisy chaining and wanted to use this feature and have the HDMI on my second monitor connected to a different device (one of our signage players). I am happy with it for what I use it for, just disappointed about the lack of daisy chaining.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Somewhat Outdated The MiniX Z83-4 is a good computer for low intensity office work, but it is clearly designed as an HTPC. Unfortunately, the 3-year old Atom Z8300 processor powering the unit is not capable of rapidly handling today's high bandwidth multimedia. In an age where everything must be instant, waiting even 30 additional seconds for a file to load on the Z83-4 compared to a more modern computer is an unacceptable eternity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works perfectly for running CNC router in my shop. I bought this mini PC to run a CNC router. For this task it's perfect. I'm a Mac user but I had it up and running in minutes. I use a USB3 external drive to transfer files between my Mac, which I design on and the NEO which has the neccessary apps to run my Shapeoko 3 CNC. I would consider buying another as a home media center. Very well constructed, fast enough and well designed. Can't be beat at the price.
