If you've already purchased the standard version of this plug-in download, you'll know that iZotope's Neutron Advanced is a bundle comprising a compressor, equalizer, exciter, transient shaper, and limiter. However, if you'd like the ability to instantiate the individual components of this plug-in—or operate the software in surround formats up to 7.1—then you'll want this upgrade, as it facilitates the CPU-friendly usage of individual modules; if you only need the EQ, you won't need to load the rest of the plug-in.

Particularly useful for mixing engineers is the masking meter, which visually identifies which frequencies in a given track are being overshadowed by other elements of the mix, and allows you to make the necessary adjustments to compensate. In practice, this is a suitable tool for quickly mitigating problems between kick drums and bass elements, guitars and vocals, guitars and keyboards, and more.

Particularly useful to post-production engineers is the ability to work in surround all the way up to 7.1. Combined with Neutrino's preset for dialogue, and the ability to sidechain elements in order to balance the disparate parts of a scene, this renders the plug-in quite suitable for sound designers of film, TV, web, and radio.

Also integral to Neutron is the Track Assistant, which listens to incoming audio signals and generates a custom, preset module chain based on what it analyzes. It is not a panacea, but rather, creates a suitable starting point for each individual instrument from which you can further explore creative possibilities.

This plug-in is available for Mac and Windows platforms, and while there is no standalone version, you can operate it within VST, AU, AAX and RTAS formats.

Note: You must have a purchased and licensed copy of Neutron Standard to qualify for this upgrade.

Key Features at a Glance

Channel Strip or Individual Module Implementation
Neutron Advanced allows you to choose between whether or not you want to use the plug-ins in a channel strip configuration (with selectable signal-flow arrangements) or in an individual manner, useful in saving CPU for instances when you know you only need one module.
Track Assistant
  • Automatically detects instrument types (guitar, vocals, bass, drums, etc.)
  • Creates custom starting points based on your specific audio tracks
  • Offers three levels of intensity (Subtle, Medium, and Aggressive)
  • Adds Neutrino's Spectral Shaping too help maintain focus and clarity
  • Intelligently places EQ nodes and creates an EQ curve
  • Sets automatic settings for signal flow, including single or multiband processing
  • Uses algorithms to intelligently place crossovers in multiband modes
  • Automatic selection of compressor styles (Digital or Vintage) as well as setting assignments (Threshold, Attack, Release, and Ratio)
  • Selects Exciter algorithm blend and dials in a custom amount as per the audio's needs

Masking Meter
  • Visually identifies which frequencies are being perceptually masked by another track, thus helping you to make intelligent EQ decisions
  • Adjusts both the selected track and masking track’s EQ settings from within the same plug-in GUI
  • Identifies frequency-masking trouble spots over time using the Histogram
Neutrino
  • Based on iZotope’s Spectral Shaping technology
  • Uses simplified controls to influence clarity and detail over elements of your mix
  • Four modes: Voice/Dialogue, Guitar/Instrument, Bass, and Drums/Percussive
