XP PhotoGear XPLS20 overview

  • 1Description

Make the most of your camera's pop-up flash with this 3-pack of Color Dome Diffusers from XP PhotoGear. It includes three different diffusers that easily attach to your camera for softening the light output of your flash. The white diffuser simply diffuses the output without affecting the color. The orange diffuser helps match the color of tungsten light for more uniform color temperatures. Finally, the blue diffuser helps cool the color temperature of the flash, allowing for creative effects and matching cooler light sources.

Pop-Up Flash Color Dome Diffusers (3-Pack) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes the pop-up much more useful and pleasing! I will begin by saying that I have not yet had occasion or reason to use the blue or amber diffuser, but the white alone is well worth this price. If you have had it happen that you use the pop-up for some added light, especially on a photo of a person, and had the light appear harsh and blown out on the subject, this item is for you. This diffuser softens and diffuses the light, so it gives a more natural appearance. It also acts to spread some of the light around the subject, so a near background will also benefit and look better illuminated. This is most important when your subject (model) is close to the camera. If the subject is further away, maybe 10 feet or more, take the diffuser off to maximize effectiveness of the flash. Distance diffuses light also, making this device unnecessary in that situation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very useful if pop-up is your only option. I prefer to use a speed light whenever possible, but if the pop-up is the only thing available, the white diffuser makes for a much more pleasing light when taking family photos. I have tried the orange filter for a warming effect in some indoor environments, and it has its uses. Have not had a use for the blue diffuser yet, but just the white diffuser is worth the price, even if you never have a need for the other two.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed. Just what I needed to soften the on camera flash when I sometimes use it to trigger other flashes

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice for the price. I usually avoid using the pop-up flash, but there are times when it is the best or only option. This set was worth the investment just to try the white diffuser, and I was very pleased. I cant comment much about the blue and amber diffusers, as I havent had occasion to use them in an altered White Balance situation. I was actually so pleased with this product that I purchased and gave justvthe bracket and white diffusers to a team of nurses who have the unfortunate job of documenting injuries on children. The way this item diffuses the normally harsh direct light is great when a speedlight isnt available. It diminishes the hot spots on skin and gives a softer even lighting on curved surfaces like human. Of course, this also applies to photos of your family and friends. I would strongly recommend this to a DSLR or mirrorless user who has not yet ventured into added light and isnt ready to pay for a speedlight. Use a product like this one, to soften and spread the light in your photos, and you will be happy with the results. Do your family photos come out looking like a silhouette, or a light background and a face on shadow? Use an item like this and add flash to your subject. It may be moot, reviewing this product now, but I wanted to anyway. There are other similar products available. One is almost identical, but 4-5 times the price I paid for this set, and that one has just the white diffuser. If a friend asked, I might suggest they try to Sto-Fen product, which seems to be more reasonably priced. I am tempted to buy that one, just to test it out for review.
