The EP-224S from Sirui is a multi-function video and photo monopod designed for the modern digital content creator.

Simply put, the EP-224S is a highly versatile monopod with a range of patented special features seamlessly integrated into the design for intuitive operation. The monopod's 4-section, carbon fiber construction keeps it at an easy-to-carry weight of just 2.2 lb, while its solid design allows it to support up to 17.6 lb. At its maximum height it can reach up to 63", while capable of folding down to just 24" in length for transport or storage.

Starting its diverse list of special features is the folding tripod foot which features a lockable ball-joint connection, which allows the monopod to pivot from a single, grounded position. The locking feature allows the user to lock the monopod vertically but does not make it free-standing. Although the monopod may stand on its own, the vertical lock is intended only to level the horizon for horizontal pans and should not be left unattended. The tripod foot may also be removed from the monopod and used as a table top tripod for those who may need a small support and wish to leave the monopod leg behind. Each one of the three legs folds vertically around the monopod's leg, reducing its footprint and permitting easy storage.

In addition to the unique foot, the EP-224S also features a patented 360° swiveling top grip that may be used for smooth pans when a fluid head is not required. The grip is covered by a padded leg warmer and may be engaged and disengaged by a simple aluminum twist-lock directly below the grip.

The monopod also features quick and easy to use flip locks for extending each leg section and a wrist strap for added security when in use. A 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 reversible stud is included along with the top plate for mounting both, tripod heads, and directly to camera.

    EP-224S Carbon Fiber Multi-Function Photo/Video Monopod is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, Fast setup, best for bagpacking I got the aluminum one first and decide to replace it wit the Carbon fiber to save the additional .4 lbs. The extra $ was worh the .4 lb weight reduction, it is really helpful when you have to carry it form that an hour. The monopod is super light and super fast to set up, the legs can be independently used as a table top tripod which was a huge plus for me. I was able to balance a Nikon D810 with 24-70 F2.8 on this (highly not recommended, I had to do it as i did not had my tripod handy). Easy to carry in crowded places and was handy where a tripod is not allowed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall, a great update for my purposes This purchase was an upgrade; I will compare it with my Benro A38T (aluminium) PROS 1. Professional look and high quality, sturdy materials. 2. 360 panning top feature is a high plus for city view panorama shots. 3. Wider legs position awesome for stability. It can increase between 8cm/3.14 in to 15cm/5.09in the height against the A38T. 4. Being able to remove the hand strap with the reversible screw and plate is a high plus for my 360 pictures. 5. Carry bag made of high quality materials, with enough space to carry both monopods at once. CONS 1. Legs are bulkier when folded up for storage. I would prefer the alloy, flat legs of the SUP204SR, P424SR, P324SR, SUP224SR, SUP426SR or P326S. This is really making me think about changing it for either one of the latter. 2. Heavier (1Kg/2.2lb) than the A38T (09.Kg/2lb). However, this feature compensates the higher loading capability on the EP224S. 3. Flip-style locks require more attention, as I have to somehow align them to improve the legs closing position. I prefer the twist-lock of my Benro.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Works well with a few issues I purchased this to help me with the weight of my heavy lenses. I love that it holds the weight of my equipment. My only problem is the first couple of times I used it the leg extension was jammed due to the screw at the flip lock. It was straight out the box & when I unpacked it & checked it out it was fine. When using it it somehow tightened up. I had to pull my equipment off, pull ore the wrenched they provided & figure the right tension on the lock screws. This happened several times when using

Rated 5 out of 5 by from more than just a stick A monopod that needs instructions. And rightly so. The panning feature is great, so is the tilt feature - perfect for videographers. The feet have a second setting for a little extra height, and comes with a beefy carrying case. It first time out I was shooting elephant seals at the beach. Carbon fiber keeps it light weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Monopod! This monopod has everything I wanted. If I designed my own monopod this is what I'd want. I wouldn't have even thought about the separate tripod.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I had feet issues I have used this monopod on and off for a year now. I can say in hindsight I wish I had gotten the model with the more durable feet. Mine (after a year of use) are pretty cumbersome because they don't lock and constantly loosen. Initially the feet worked fine, but in the long term they loosened. Also, the feet don't stay in their grooved level points, which is the most annoying part. I called Sirui and told them this and they said I should tighten all the screw points. I did and it worked maybe one use and then would need to be readjusted again. I shouldn't have to tighten all the screw points after each use. For the price, I'm disappointed in the lifespan of the product. I'm actually going to remove the feet so that I have a more reliable monopod without feet for on the fly video. Also, after a year I find the extending middle latches not holding tight enough and having a bit of a downward fall when readjusted with a camera on. I always extended them properly so I am sad to seem them not holding up. Basically this product just isn't made well enough to last....This is more nit-picky but all the knobs at the bottom doesn't seem like the most convenient access point for me. I do documentary work, so having to leave the camera to reach down and adjust near ground level isn't great.
