Manfrotto MVMXPROA5US overview

  • 1Description

The MVMXPROA5US XPRO Video Monopod+ from Manfrotto is a versatile aluminum support equipped with Manfrotto's FLUIDTECH base—a unique monopod foot which allows for fluid pans and tilts normally unachievable on a standard photo monopod.

A handy tool for nearly any videographer or filmmaker, a monopod can often travel places tripods cannot, providing additional stability and supporting heavy equipment when required. The MVMXPROA5US features a 5-section design which, when paired with its aluminum construction, results in an easy-to-transport design weighing just 2.4 lb. With a maximum height of 60.2" and a minimum height of just 20.7", the MVMXPROA5US can be adjusted to suit users of varying heights and for various different tasks.

While the design of a monopod is relatively simple the Manfrotto Monopod+ line utilizes some innovative features which make using the MVMXPROA5US fast and easy. The primary feature of the line is the inclusion of Manfrotto's patented Power-Lock flip locks which snap open and closed to ensure fast operation and a tight, unyielding lock. The D-shaped leg sections have been designed not only to compliment the Power-Locks but also to prevent unwanted twisting between leg sections and increase the stability of the monopod.

The integrated FLUIDTECH base utilizes a "3D" fluid cartridge which facilitates smooth pans and tilts from a single connection point. The cartridge may be locked vertically to isolate movement to only the 360° panning axis, allowing for smooth, level, uninterrupted rotation. While engaging the vertical lock may allow the monopod to stand, it does not support free-standing function and should not be left unattended when not in use.

Additionally, the Monopod+ line also features Manfrotto's standard rubber leg warmer for an improved grip and an adjustable hand strap for extra security. A 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounting thread is placed at the top of the monopod in the center of the baseplate, allowing users to either, direct mount a camera or lens, or use an articulating head if required.

    Manfrotto MVMXPROA5US reviews

MVMXPROA5US Aluminum XPRO Video Monopod+ is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Monopod I'm still on a photo shot of the Cromwell gardens in Southern England. Tomorrow will be the 11th garden in 5 days. I've used the Manfrotto Monopod for most of the shots. It's great how easy it is to use and how strong it is. I'm able to quickly change the height of the pod with just a few snaps of the locks. I'm using my x1d Hasselblad with a 45mm and a 90mm lens. The camera bag gets a little heavy at the end of the day but no comparisons to having to lug a tripod. Some of these gardens are on 4 to 40 acres and plenty of hills. Seven gardens left to visit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Manual needs to mention how the thread mounts work I like it so far but 2 heads up! 1) Wipe down legs after you first extend them. Had a little residual lube on mine. 2) The 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounting thread is placed at the top of the monopod in the center of the baseplate, Yes but nothing in the manual that there is only one part, they are actually both in the head. Took me a bit of time to figure that one out. See the pics. Just press your camera or mount down, screw in and you are done

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for traveling filmmakers! This is an amazing monopod for travel. It fits into an international carry on with ease and I prefer it to the last generation of video monopods. By being able to remove the base, you can pack it up even smaller.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality This is a big improvement over my old Manfrotto 3-step monopod. I used my old Manfrotto head and just had to replace the pod leg (after 6 years or so, I appreciate how I only had to replace the leg). I like the 4-step btw because it allows me to adjust on the fly faster to get the right height (I work on film sets for publicity).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressed I ordered this mono tripod to shoot a wedding I had coming up.. but I ended up using the glidecam most the time. this one proved to be amazing for interviews and stand up shooting in any setting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value, High Quality Product Whenever you buy Manfrotto, you know you're getting quality. The monopod works great and the build quality is excellent. The feet could be a bit longer for better stability, but other than that, it's worth a buy. Its smaller in size than other monopods so it is a lot more travel-friendly and good for small spaces.
