Ruggard Lynx 55 Overview

Explore the wonders of the world through the magic of photography with the black Medium Lynx 55 SlingPack for DSLR and 15" Laptop from Ruggard. The SlingPack is designed to store, protect, and transport a DSLR with an attached 200mm lens, extra lenses, a flash, and related accessories. Padded touch-fastening dividers make organizing gear fast and easy. Use the upper zippered compartment with interior pockets for personal items, or for additional equipment. By removing the touch-fastening base of this compartment, the SlingPack can be reconfigured for other uses. This is also a good place for storing the included rain cover.

Toward the rear of the SlingPack is a padded, zippered compartment for an up to 15" laptop or tablet. Zippered openings allow left, right, and front access to gear. Keep items requiring ready access, such as a wallet, phone, or keys in either of the side pockets, which have touch-fastening flap closure. Glove wearers will appreciate the large metal zipper pullers. And the bottom front of the pack has a pullout pouch for supporting the base of a compact tripod, which is complemented by an adjustable strap with a quick release buckle above for the tripod's midsection.

Carry your SlingPack with the top strap handle, rear trolley strap, or wear with the padded, adjustable shoulder harness. Convert to left or right sling carry by simply unbuckling the bottom of either shoulder strap and connecting it to the opposite side. The unneeded strap is then hidden behind the padded back panel. And for added stability and comfort, the SlingPack features an adjustable, padded waist belt with a quick release buckle. Heavy-duty nylon construction with generous padding ensures strength and durability. A grommet located on the front of the SlingPack may be used for attaching a bicycle light or other item. With sleek lines and useful features, the SlingPack is both stylish and functional.

Left, right, and front zippered panels for easy access to gear
Upper daypack area offers storage for a light jacket, booklets, or other personal accessories
Top adjustable straps position the SlingPack higher or lower for improved comfort and weight distribution
Bottom is reinforced for durability and allows the SlingPack to stand upright

Ruggard Lynx 55 Reviews

Another winner

Another great product that was really the only one that met my use needs. Front access to camera equipment, separate top compartment for everyday items and instant side access to a fully ready camera. The price structure for Ruggard's items is always very good and was again on this one. I always seem to spend an inordinate amount of time looking at other manufacturers but end up coming back to Ruggard. Great product design and quality as well as great value for the price.

The Wrong One

I shouldn't be so hard on this product because I just picked the wrong one. I wanted something to fit the Nikon D750 with the Tamron 150-600 G2 zoom attached, but I didn't want to backpack a suitcase. Yes, it will fit with the upper divider removed, but it's cumbersome to stow and remove this combo through the main flap, and with this arrangement, difficult to configure to include anything else. Well, maybe I'm spatially challenged. I would have returned it to B&H, but it would have cost $20.00 to ship and at $59.95, I decided to make use of it with smaller camera combos. I may order different pack in the future. Aside from the poor selection by me, I would offer the following comments. The zippers on the main access flap constantly stick at the points where the zipper bends around the corner of the flap. No pocket for a water bottle. The pocket for the tripod attachment is a bit flimsy. The shoulder straps are longggg! Guess that's good if you weigh 300 pounds, but I'm half that. The straps fasten with the usual plastic snap buckles, with the strap threaded through one slot in the buckle, then around a divider in the buckle and back through the second slot. Unfortunately, once adjusted, the setting tends to slip, and the slots are too small to thread the straps through a second time, because the ends of the straps are bent over themselves twice and sewn to prevent the strap ends from fraying. There is a waist support strap, but no link strap to connect the shoulder straps across your chest to keep them from slipping off your shoulders. There are two side pockets with velcro flaps, but they're too small for even a pair of sunglasses. Look, all these are nitpicks. This appears to be a pretty durable backpack. I wouldn't select it as a pro, but it serves the purpose for a day shooter. Three stars overall, but there's value here at this price point, so an additional star for value.

I like the size and the ability to have two separate compartments. This bag seems to be well made. What I don't like is the dividers have gaps, allowing for smaller items to slip out of the desired location.

Great bag - Lots of space - Semi uncomfortable straps.

I have been using this bag for 7 months so far. -------- TLDR: Great bag for a student photographer. Has lots of space. Straps can be cumbersome. Overall 4.2/5 -------- Pros: If you're looking for a bag to carry multiple cameras this is your bag. I am a student and I use this bag for class and work. It fits my 2 Canons - even with lenses attached. It fits laptop perfectly. The upper pouch can be use to store a bottle of water and snacks or other misc photo equipment/cables that don't fit in the main compartment. Also you can store an umbrellas on the backpack by sticking the top in next to the shoulder strap. (Note: the handle will be in the air like an antenna) - [At least you're not carrying an umbrella around. :)] -------- Cons: The straps can be a bit cumbersome. (Over time you get used to it.) Due to the weight that comes with a fully laden bag the straps tend to pull shoulders out and back. (This might just be me.) [In a new version a strap across the chest would really help!] -----

Needed an easy carry backpack that my camera, lens, accessories, and laptop would fit in for carry-on. Appears to be well made and fits my needs.

I wanted to like this bag

I really wanted to like this bag and received it as a gift from a friend. On paper its exactly what I wanted, a backpack that can convert to a sling, side opening quick access, a tripod holder, lots of pockets and room for a laptop. It ticks every box. Indeed the bag itself is excellent, well laid out, looks good and fits my gear nicely, but it has one fatal flaw, I hate the way it feels on my back. The straps are not contoured in any way and have no sternum strap. The back of the bag doesn't have anything to prevent your back from becoming a hot sweaty mess either. It really feels like the straps were an afterthought. I have no confidence in their long term durability and it just feels awkward to wear. There's also way too much extra strap dangling around everywhere with no simple way to secure it. I tried taking the bag out on a couple of occasions and while it carried everything I needed I spent the whole time adjusting it and worrying it was going to fall off. I even added a sternum strap of my own but it still wasn't comfortable. I shouldn't have expected great ergonomics from a $59 bag, but I have had better experiences in this price range. If I could keep the bag and swap out the straps from another bag I'd love it.

Great quality with smooth zippers. I just wish it had a chest strap and more dividers, for small equipment.
