Stream to the web without a computer by encoding with the Cerevo LiveShell X. Leveraging the efficient H.265 encoding format, high-quality HD videos can be streamed using less bandwidth compared to the H.264 standard. And with support for 1080p resolution at 60 fps, broadcast quality video is within reach. Simply connect your HDMI camera or video-enabled device, set up the LiveShell X, and you're ready to stream.

Ethernet and USB ports allow for streaming directly over a wired connection, or using wireless networks with a separately available Wi-Fi USB dongle. Another option is to record H.264 or H.265 video straight to a microSD card. Recording can be done simultaneous to streaming, so you can have a hard copy ready for distribution at the end of the event. Despite its prowess, the LiveShell X is compact, battery-powered, and can be mounted directly on a camera using the multiple integrated mounting points.

H.265 Encoding
LiveShell X supports streaming at up to 1080p60, enabling you to stream broadcast-quality video. In addition, with support for the H.265 video codec, you can broadcast the same quality video as H.264 at a reduced bit rate or using the same bit rate as H.264 with increased video quality. LiveShell X can also use H.264 encoding to ensure compatibility with existing streaming services.
Streaming Platform Support
Many streaming platforms, including Ustream, YouTube Live, Twitch, Akamai, and Wowza, are supported immediately out of the box. You can also do live streaming through your own server, if your server supports RTMP broadcasting. LiveShell X has been tested to work on the following services:
  • Ustream
  • Niconico Live
  • YouTube Live
  • TwitCasting
  • Facebook
  • FRESH! by AbemaTV
  • J-Stream
  • Wowza
  • Akamai
  • Twitch

The multi-streaming function enables you to stream to up to three services simultaneously (depending on current resolution settings). You can also broadcast multiple streams to one streaming service at different bit rates.
Real-Time Stream Recording
LiveShell X can record directly to a microSD card to make a backup copy of your broadcast or to record an event for later broadcasting. If you use LiveShell X as a standalone recorder (without streaming), 1080p60 Full-HD video can be recorded. LiveShell X will record the final stream output, creating an exact copy of your broadcast including any on-screen logos or lower third graphics added via Dashboard.
Built-In Rechargeable Battery
Use the built-in rechargeable battery to operate LiveShell X for up to six hours. Automatic power switching ensures that if the AC adapter is disconnected while live streaming, LiveShell X will switch to battery power automatically without interrupting the broadcast.
Durable Construction
While constructed from metal, LiveShell X is compact and lightweight. It also features M4 and 1/4"-20 mounting options, so LiveShell X can be attached to cameras using a shoe mount, giving you a portable all-in-one filming, recording, and broadcasting solution.
Monitor Output
Using free VLC software for your computer or tablet, you can view your live streaming or recorded video in near-real time. The front panel OLED display shows streaming status and audio levels, while the three top LED buttons change color to alert you of any issues with streaming output.
Dashboard Control
Using LiveShell X's web-based control panel, Dashboard, beginners and professionals alike can control video quality, audio level, bit rate, and cue timing. Since Dashboard is browser-based, users can remotely control LiveShell X from basically any smartphone, tablet, or PC with an internet connection.
Lower Thirds and Screen Graphics Support
Using Dashboard you can add subtitles, logos, and graphics to your live streaming via the easy-to-use interface. LiveShell X supports transparent PNG files for polished on-screen graphics.
Local Mode
With local mode, LiveShell X can broadcast to a closed local network without the need to connect to an external server. Broadcast video or audio securely over your corporate network, or use RTSP mode and LiveShell X can function as your exclusive local streaming server without having to build or purchase your own media server.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Everything seems great, but one serious flaw We've had experience with various encoder boxes for our livestream production, this one in particular seems very promising. Our crew loved it the moment we got it. Build quality is good, display is vibrant and informative, menus are responsive, dashboard is intuitive. We started our first test stream, and immediately noticed something's wrong with the picture. Turned out the encoder doesn't support full range RGB! No matter what signal we feed into it (0-255 or 16-235), black will always be dark grey and white will always be slight grey. We contacted cerevo customer service and they basically acknowledged the problem. It was such a bummer, and we had to return it to B&H.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor image quality I have been using VidiU with BlackMagic 4K switcher and I've given this box a try as I was looking to record locally. The box has all the features except a non-functional one: picture quality. The output contains white pixels, like a noisy effect; see the attached picture and look for the dark areas on the piano. Another not so great feature is the user interface on the box. I.e. I may use the buttons to start recording locally and once I hit the record button the interface doesn't change; I need to switch between 1,2,3 channels and then go back to the recording channel and then see the timer, etc. I would have still accepted this but the picture quality is a deal breaker unfortunately.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works Great ext. Battery Problems OK, so i purchased this unit and it worked great out of the box on AC but we got it for field use. The battery showed orange or yellow meaning it didn't see the battery. I returned the unit and received it's replacement for it to do the same thing!! After looking around the internet i found a guy who got one and had the same problem, he fixed it by pulling the battery and manually placing it on a charger for a few minutes to get something in the battery. then return the battery to the Cerevo and it see's the battery turns the charge light Red and started charging the battery. Now it works as it should, this is a problem that Cerevo should resolve.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's big and the user set up is complicated, but it's great. I deal with Live Streaming daily. I have the VidiU, Vidiu Pro, and even a Cube. None of these offer the ability to remote into your encoder to start and/or stop the stream. The LiveShell's user interface is complicated and leaves much to be desired, but once you set it up, it works wonderfully. Also, the LiveShell X is much much BIGGER than I expected. But being able to access this machine from home while it's running a 24/7 stream at work makes me so happy Also, being able to stream to three different platforms simultaneously is quite useful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cerevo eventually fixed the battery I gave a bad review firstly because I had a product with a bad battery or battery charge component (on 3 units). The end result, it wouldn't work at all from battery. Months have gone by since I bought it and I have my 4th unit from Cerevo in Japan is working well. Battery life is 4+ hours (with 45% capacity left on the control panel) and I'm now happy. For the person who says it comes in Chinese, it's Japanese and there is an easy fix here: https://liveshell-manual.cerevo.com/en/liveshell-x/lsx-06-faq/language-x/ Mine came in English, but I think it factory resets to Japanese and because I was having trouble with the battery I did reset it many times. Cerevo did give me a small gift as the shipping costs to Japan were building up. B&H also offered to take it back, but because I wanted it to work I persisted with Cerevo. I'd recommend it, but I'd test the battery thoroughly and expect to waste time with Cerevo if your battery does not work right away.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Repair so. the story has continued. manufacturer stopped communicating with me. Recently, it was - send to Japan for examination). I'm just finding out that this is a standard li-on battery in deep discharge - managed to revive the external charger. (Unfortunately I think the work of the small battery life - but at least it has become clear that a resolution of the device is all right). I write all this to the fact that the same problem because I can not face one myself. - A manufacturer of this somehow responds asymmetrically. Thank you for attention)). Good luck

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A fly in the ointment.. Hello. Two weeks ago I became a happy (unhappy) the owner of the device. possession of a small time. Made only unpack what's in the box (this can be viewed on YouTube channel) and check the device operability. +++ First impressions are positive: all you expect to receive. Stream on several channels at once, simultaneous recording, resolution up to 1080P (with reservations) and so on. just like in the specification. - - - but one thing left sediment. After a desire to test the device for battery life up to 3 hours claimed (that is, information including available on site B&H) - it turned out that my device is not able to do it. Dialogue with the support team gave nothing. Since I'm from Moscow, and the device was purchased in B&H through friends who are not so often fly to the states - a desperate situation. In general, for newly arrived - if you expect battery life of the device - check back all without leaving the store. Thank you for attention.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Read the warning Great unit. Only issue is that half the display is in Japanese so it gets confusing. Other red flag is that it says it streams to 3 locations and records but to actually be able to record you can only stream to 2 locations. Other than that it is a great product at a great price.
