Glyph Technologies AR1000SLV overview

  • 1Description

The silver Atom RAID 1TB USB 3.1 Type-C External SSD from Glyph Technologies provides two 500GB SSDs that quickly provide a total capacity of 1TB for your Mac and Windows systems. The SSDs feature a slim M.2 form factor and are configured in a RAID 0 array that enhances the delivery of data up to 800 MB/s. To support the increased performance, Glyph has outfitted the Atom RAID with a USB 3.1 Type-C port that transfers data at speeds up to 10 Gb/s and sports a small and reversible design.

The Atom RAID is preformatted for HFS+ with Journaling and compatible with Time Machine, letting it work right out of the box with a Mac. Reformatting is required for use with a Windows system. With a lightweight and rugged design, the Atom RAID is well suited for the rigors of daily travel. For compatibility with a wide range of USB products, Glyph includes a cable for directly connecting the Atom RAID to USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 3 systems along with a second cable that creates a connection with computers having a standard USB Type-A port.

    Glyph Technologies AR1000SLV reviews

    Atom RAID 1TB USB 3.1 Type-C External SSD (2 x 500GB, Silver) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glyph hands down! I am and have been a glyph use her for more than 10 years. I can say without a doubt this is the best Glyph Drive I have ever owned. I realize this drive was designed to work with the 2016 MacBook Pro's and further generations with USB-C. However I own and use two MacBook Pro Retinas (mid 2012 and early 2015) and it works flawlessly with the USB-c to USB-a cable. This SSD works astronomically well. Glyph have always been reliable and the warranty is amazing! READ IT! Also, the form factor is amazing. As a Pro Tools Post Operator, it's convenient to slip into my chest pocket on my shirt on my way out the door in the morning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super fast, slick SSD I've never experienced a drive with speeds like this. I really do get a little over 800 MB/s transfer speeds, which is mind blowing considering I've been content with 150-250 MB/s... at least I thought I was content. I could never go back to those speeds now. This SSD works so well with my 2016 MacBook Pro with touchbar. The form factor of the drive itself is also really nice. Great, sleek packaging. Amazing metal chassis. It's also really nice that both a USB type-C to USB type-C cable and a USB type-C to USB type-A cable are included because I still quite often interface with USB type-A machines. I also feel very secure using this drive on the go as it feels (and is suppose to be) very resistant to drops and shocks. However, this drive is overkill for older machines so just make sure your machine will actually take advantage of the USB 3.1 type-C Gen. 2 speeds of up to 10Gbps, such as the new 2016 MacBook Pro. Otherwise, you'd be spending extra $$ for no good reason.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb product While I like the slim form factor of the regular SSD version (I've also owned), the RAID SSD is still relatively small. I purchased this drive after having a G-Technology drive fail on me and since then, I'm nervous to get anything but SSDs because of how much I travel with my drives. This drive can easily be thrown in my backpack worry-free and Glyph has so many warranties and guarantees; it's awesome.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This thing is fast!! This drive is used in my backup scheme to make daily clones of my newly acquired 15 MacBook Pro with USBc. In creating my first backup of approximately 350Gb This unit took less than 25 minutes and although the write speeds varied depending on the file being copied, some were Copied at over 100 Mbps! And averaged 60-70 Gbps. Incredibly fast compared to my previous solution which consisted of a Seagate Thunderbolt caddy with a Crucial 525GB SSD mounted on a 2015 15 MacBook Pro The unit itself is covered with a sturdy rubber bumper which should protect it from the rigors of daily life and it's compact enough to fit in your shirt pocket. The only reason why it kept me from giving it 5 stars was the fact there was no documentation and although there is a note that directs you to the Glyph website, I could not locate any documentation pertaining to my model. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase as this little guy seems to have been built for the long haul. All I need now is a justification to purchase more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my new MacBook Pro A 1TB RAID SSD drive that is the size and weight of a deck of cards....and it seems to be as fast as the flash storage on my new MacBook Pro!!! USB 3.1 is the way to go. It is expensive, but worth it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Glyph Atom SSD RAID I bought one months ago. I use it to edit 4K and HD on my 2016 MBP. Works very well so I bought another. Fast
