Ubiquiti Networks US-8-60W overview

  • 1Description

The fully manageable US-8-60W UniFi 8-Port Gigabit PoE Compliant Managed Switch from Ubiquiti Networks features 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports in a small form factor offering improved performance and intelligent switching capabilities for expanding networks. In addition to the 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports, this switch offers 8 Gbps non-blocking throughput, a 16 Gbps switching capacity, and a 11.9 mpps forwarding rate.

Once installed, this UniFi switch can be managed using Ubiquiti's own UniFi Controller software giving network administrators the ability to manage multiple sites from a single interface. Network admins have full access to various Ubiquiti devices within the network with the ability to change operating modes, monitor the status of each device, manage spanning tree configuration, and much more.

Hardware Features
• 8 x Gigabit RJ-45 ports
• 4 x Auto-Sensing IEEE 802.3af PoE ports
• Non-Blocking Throughput: 8 Gbps
• Switching Capacity: 16 Gbps
• Forwarding Rate: 11.9 Mpps
• Maximum Power Consumption: 12W
Switching Performance
The UniFi Switch offers the forwarding capacity to simultaneously process traffic on all ports at line rate without any packet loss.
For its total, non-blocking throughput, each supports up to 8 Gbps with a switching capacity of 16 Gbps.

UniFi Controller

Multi-Site Management
A single instance of the UniFi Controller running in the cloud can manage multiple UniFi sites within a centralized interface. Each site is logically separated and has its own network monitoring, configuration, maps, statistics, and admin accounts.
Switch Configuration
You can access any managed UniFi Switch through the UniFi Controller to configure a variety of features:
• Operation mode (switching, mirroring, or aggregate) per port
• Network/VLAN configuration
• Jumbo frame and flow control services
• Network settings
• Storm control setting per port
• Spanning tree configuration
• 802.1x control and RADIUS VLAN
• Debug terminal option for command-line interface
Switch Port Status
You can also view status information for each port:
• Connection speed and duplex mode
• TX/RX data rates
• Network/VLAN setting
The Switch Statistics screen displays a graphical overview of all LAN throughput for each port on the selected switch. Under the same pane of glass, it also shows LAN, WLAN, and Internet traffic, including the breakdown of protocols being used (requires a UniFi Security Gateway, sold separately).

    Ubiquiti Networks US-8-60W reviews

US-8-60W UniFi 8-Port Gigabit PoE Compliant Managed Switch is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small footprint, Managed Switch, POE comes in handy. Excellent little switch and works great! The Ubiquiti management software really make this product shine. Pros: Small footprint, Managed Switch, POE comes in handy. Cons: The Ubiquiti US8-150W supports PoE+ on all 8 ports utilizing IEEE 802.3af/at (Pins 1, 2+; 3, 6-) where as the US8-60W only supports (4) Ports 5, 6, 7, 8; with IEEE 802.3af (No POE+) While you can save the $$$ buying the Ubiquiti US8-60W be careful that the devices you need to power are going to work with this. If your not sure, just spend the extra $$$ and get the US8-150W and not worry about the potential compatibility issues. In the end, both devices work great and I recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love the easy to use power over ethernet and management! The switch is great. I mean it's just a switch but the management features via the cloud key and portal app are also super. POE / power over ethernet, didn't realize how useful that can be. Will consider getting a POE phone and other devices soon perhaps too, now that we can! Other great things are the entire Ubiquiti solution we bought is working flawlessly when put all together. We have it all connected: the gateway router + 8 port managed switch + ACPRO + ACMESH + cloud key. It's just amazing really with the seamless hop / hop-back between the access points, and the reporting features and iPhone app are also very cool!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I recommand this Switch I am using this small switch as my desk switch that has a laptop, PC connected using GB Ethernet cards. Also it is powering a Yealink and Polycomm phones. Then I have US-8 up-linked to a Ubnt switch 16 150w. The switch has been stable since I been using it. Had no issues with adding it to the Ubiquiti controller. The only thing I noticed it does get warm therefore I attached the switch about quarter inch from the wall to let airflow get behind the device. I think this is normal as I had a Netgear that ran as hot or even hotter. I would buy this product again and do recommend it. Ubnt does sell the same model with out the ability to power devices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seamless install I purchased this switch to pair with a set of new in-wall APs (which require POE) to extend my wireless network into areas of the house with weak signal. My research pre-purchase simplified installation and adoption of the switch in the Ubiquiti Management software. If you're looking for a simple switch, there are probably simpler products for you to buy/install. But if you're looking for great value with great features and you have a little networking background (or a willingness to learn), definitely give this guy a look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic product. Great management. Easy install. I got the switch along with two UAP-AC-PRO access points for our new home. Previously I've used an Apple Airport Extreme for WiFi. I am glad I went with Unifi, the control and insight into my network and what devices are using it is amazing, the management is super easy, and I've got perfect WiFi coverage now. The price of the switch and two APs was the same as I would have had to pay for a home wifi setup like Orbi, but Unifi is so much better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great switch Ubiquiti prducts are awesome. I am a home user and found their Unifi ecosystem to be so slick and easy to set up with just a little bit of effort. I have this switch and 2 others. I also have 2 of their APs and have ordered a third. If you need help setting up wireless network I would suggest you look up on Youtube the channel "Crosstalk" Solutions. He makes great videos that are done step by step and are very clear. This one shows a complete basic network install and configuration for Ubiquiti products.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcfIpTso_Ys&t=2s

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well, half the price of the 8-150W I got this to replace the last non-Ubiquiti hardware in my network. As expected, it integrates perfectly with my existing Unifi managed hardware through the controller. Wish this was available 6 months ago and I would have gotten this instead of the more expensive 8-150W switch!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Managed PoE switch! Easy integrated management with UniFi: If you're already running another UniFi device and have a pre-existing instance of the UniFi Controller, adopting this switch and making the necessary adjustments to its configuration are very intuitive and a breeze. Provisioning VLANs and assigning per-port configurations are far more complex in other vendor's UIs and solutions. At a glance, you can quickly discern connected MAC address, link speed, and whether or not PoE is in use. Configuration changes apply quickly with no disruption. Updating firmware revisions is also incredibly simple. No additional steps with other protocols/solutions are required as long as you have a running UniFi controller.
