Litepanels Caliber Overview

The Caliber LED Fresnel Light from Litepanels is a lightweight versatile and highly controllable lighting solution for photographers and videographers on location or on set. The light includes a 4-way barndoor set, a PIXI tabletop tripod, color frame, gel set, and international AC power supply.

Ideal for travel and location work, the 2" Caliber Fresnel measures 8.8 x 3 x 3" and weighs just 1.3 lb., yet its daylight-balanced output is the equivalent of a 150W tungsten fixture while consuming just 17W of current. Versatility and control are key to the Caliber's design. Its 0-100% dimming range and exceptionally wide 17-73 degree spot-to-flood beam angle make it highly useful for everything from wide, soft wash lighting to sharp-shadow sunlight effects or hairlighting. The included 4-way barndoors allow further refinement and precise placement of the unit's beam. The light is ready for worldwide use via its included 100-240 VAC power supply, but it can also run on 6 easily-sourced AA batteries when mains power is unavailable.

Caliber Advantages
  • True Fresnel fixture that produces highly controllable illumination
  • Flicker-free at any frame rate or shutter angle
  • Ultra-smooth dimming from 0 - 100%, with no noticeable color shift throughout the entire range
  • Low power draw means the portable fixtures can run anywhere light is needed, on AA batteries or via AC (fixture is 2x brighter when run on AC)
  • Low 17W power draw with output comparable to a 150W tungsten fixture
  • Durable rugged aluminum chassis design
  • Serve as a battery compartment for mobile lighting
  • Provides efficient thermal management to ensure color quality and long life
  • Premium selected high CRI/TLCI rated
  • Photometrics with AC Power

    Litepanels Caliber Reviews

Not ready for the big show

I got this on sale and still feel it’s overpriced. It’s basically a flashlight with cheap plastic feel. I get better ROI with a Costco LED 2000 lumen flashlight. The dimmer and focusing is not great. I think litepanels slapped their name on a product they did not create and are laughing all the way to the bank. I tried to use it for interviews as a scratch light and it just doesn’t have enough power nor shaping ability.

Not quite as bright as I'd hoped, but it's super compact and works well. Solid design.

    question

hey, the overview says that the light is twice as bright when plugged into AC power. Does that mean it gets the equivalent power of a 300w light when plugged into AC or does that mean that the light normally runs at a 75w when battery powered with a max of 150w when plugged into AC? Thanks!
    Asked by: Tracy
The 150w equivalent is when it is plugged in to AC.On batteries it is like it is the equivalent of a 75w light.

Is this a good kit for macro-photography use, such as focus stacking? Would the light be consistent from frame-to-frame? Is the color quality high enough, or does it have off hues that require correction?
    Asked by: John
The color and output of these lights would be consistent from frame to frame when using them for macro photography.
