Especial Cycling Messenger Bag 2015 (Large, Black) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stylish and comfortable in spite of quick wear-and-tear I became a fan of Timbuk2 since I started using their messenger bags 9 years ago. My first Timbuk2 wore after 7 years of rugged usage, and it was with this in mind when I decided to get this stylish looking and supposedly durable Especial cycling messenger bag. Thus, I am pretty disappointed when the presumably "abrasion resistant nylon exterior" starts to wear out after 1 year of use. The exterior of my bag now has flakes of nylon tearing off bit by bit. Having said all that, the bag serves it's primary function well, and the other traits of the bag are very much justified. For one, I like the magnetic straps design, and even though the nylon exterior wearing off, the bag is still very much water proof.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than my Chrome I have to say this is an excellent bag. I wanted a Chrome bag, liked how it looked and thought this bag had more of the features I like. In the end this blows the chrome bag away. The pockets in from hold a coffee or water bottle perfectly and away from laptop. Laptop compartment access from the back of bag is far more useful than one could imaging, keeps things safer from damage. Other front pocket for U lock. wallet and phone in small internal zip pocket. Groceries or gear in roomy main space. ANOTHER great thing is the air flow area that keeps your back from getting hot and sweaty when riding. 1 week old we'll see how it wears...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautifully Made Bag Really well made and thought out bag. I have the large, which holds a 15 inch laptop nicely. I only have two criticisms. First, the shoulder strap is perfect for use as a cycling messenger, but it would be great if the pad could be slid to the center for an over the shoulder carry. Second, the magnetic latches work extremely well, but the design of the buckles doesn't make it at all obvious how they get released. I had to go online and search for a video to find out how to open the bag. There is nothing about the design of the buckles that indicates the kind of sliding motion that is needed to release them. As an industrial designer, this really bugs me. That being said, once you know how they work the buckles are very easy to lock and release.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super waterproof but limited pocket space I spilled 16 ounces of water into the main compartment and it did not get my computer wet in the laptop compartment. Win. The pad on the strap is sewn in so it cannot slide up and down the strap. This also means you can only wear it right handed, which is fine for cycling but annoying for daily use. Other bags by Timbuk2 have a sliding pad, which I recommend for increased comfort. No organizer pockets, just 2 medium sized outside pockets and inside laptop pocket with zipper front for papers etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The real deal This is the grown-up's bag. Understated, waterproof, almost bulletproof and it looks the part. The M I got was smaller than I expected. Since it's made of a less malleable material, it feels smaller than a regular bag when trying to accommodate certain items. Main snag: a small, fast access keys/iphone pocket would be handy (perhaps on the cover flap?). The 'Napoleon' zippers on the front pockets are great only if the bag is full - when it's not, the top folds closed (which is great to keep the water out) and hides the tops of the zippers. Could also do with an external water bottle pocket, but can live without.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Large- Awesome- Medium does not fit 15 MBP retina This bag is a great marvel. however I have tried TWO of the medium sizes and these do not fit 15 MBP Retinas. Even full stripped down with no plastic shells, one of them was a total no go and the other I had to really jam the MBP in to get 60% of the way in. I think they have a serious production run issue. The Large version has a laptop pocket the size you would expect to fit a 17" mbp and more than enough room to fit 15"

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great bag, horrible customer service. I have the previous edition of this bag through a lot and most of the bag has held up well. A few months in some of the additional straps began to loosen and the lock holder wouldn't hold the lock any more and the reflective lining wore out quickly. I put in a repair request and was approved. I knew it would take a while to get my bag back, 3 FULL months, and I was fine with that. What I wasn't ok with was the half complete repair job they did. The repairs were obvious and some of the straps were not sewn back on the bag. Within a week of getting my bag back the outer magnetic clip straps had fallen completely off my bike while riding and now I can't fully close my bag. I sent in another repair request, waited a couple weeks, no reply. Sent in another repair request, waits a couple more weeks, no reply. Went into a timbuk2 store and tried to get their assistance with the repair, no luck. I still have yet to get another repair job approved yet and customer service has left me hanging for MONTHS now. If I had a Chrome bag I could've taken it into the shop and watched them repair it in front of me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Especial in seoul I use this as my main commuting bag. It sits perfectly against the back when strapped right. 2 downsides. 1) your back is gonna sweat on hot days due to lack of airflow between the bag and your back 2) on the med size, cant fit a 15" laptop in the laptop so your laptop will sit in the main open compartment
