Meyer-Optik Gorlitz 50mm f/0.95 overview

  • 1Description

Built for speed, the Nocturnus 50mm f/0.95 II from Meyer-Optik Gorlitz is an impressively bright, normal-length prime designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. This lens's most notable attribute is its wide f/0.95 maximum aperture that affords immense control over depth of field for producing selective focus effects, and also benefits working in difficult lighting conditions. The manual focus design of the lens permits working with subjects as close as 1.6' away, and its manual aperture ring has been de-clicked for smooth, quiet aperture transitions to benefit video applications. Additionally, the lens also utilizes a 15-blade diaphragm to contribute to a smooth, circular bokeh quality.

Normal-length prime is designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, however can also be used on APS-C models where it will provide a 75mm equivalent focal length.
Exceptionally bright, fast f/0.95 maximum aperture enables extensive control over depth of field along with the ability to achieve fine selective focus effects. This maximum aperture also benefits working in low-light conditions.
A ten-elements, seven-groups optical design contributes to a high degree of sharpness throughout the aperture range.
Manual focus design permits working with subjects as close as 1.6' away.
Smooth, de-clicked aperture ring offers near-silent transitions throughout the f/0.95 to f/22 range to benefit video use.
Fifteen diaphragm blades help produce an artistic and distinctly circular bokeh quality.

    Meyer-Optik Gorlitz 50mm f/0.95 reviews

Nocturnus 50mm f/0.95 II Lens for Sony E is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a Mitakon in many ways I have owned both Nocturnus 50/0.95 II and Mitakon 50/0.95 II and I can confirm they are different in 2 major aspects. The coating of Nocturnus is much better to use under sunlight or other outdoor conditions (the lens coating and coating on aperture blades made the difference I think). With Mitakon many occasions you will see weird colors or flare (especially use wide open with ND filter). Second biggest difference is the contrast when stopping down. Nocturnus is much nicer. Mitakon is way to contrasty when stop down to F2 and below (at 1.4 the contrast is already obvious and F2 and below are quite ugly compare to Noc).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A GREAT LENS WITH BEAUTIFUL BUILD QUALITY i bought this direct from Meyer, OMG it arrives after 3 months. Finally it got to my hand. The build Quality is simply gorgeous, Full metal lens like leica and the focus ring travel distance is pretty long as those CINE LENS. It is able to be focus well with sony peak focus. And the LENS come with a watch box that builds better than the rolex box. For 3000 you got something make you happy and shoot good at 50 0.95. That is what this lens for. if you are the guy that like to compare spec and tiny difference in photo, then i dont recommand this for you.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It is definitely not worth the price! I am very disappointed. At f/.95 the image is very soft and the contrast is very low. The focus ring is slippery, if you have sweat in your hand, it is very difficult to operate. If this lens is sold for less than 1,000$, I have nothing to say. It is definitely not worth the price!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster for 4x the price Many people deny it, but I think this lens is the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster, just repackaged, for the worse - the focus and aperture rings are harder to use, and the small, dark blue f-stop markings are impossible to read in low light. It doesn't even come with a hood, and it makes no sense to pay 4x the price.
