The TS-1635 16-Bay NAS Server from QNAP is a cost-effective storage solution designed for growing businesses looking for backup, restoration, private cloud, storage for virtualization, and to future-proof their IT infrastructure for 10GbE networks. The TVS-1635 is equipped with eight 3.5"/2.5" SATA III drive bays, as well as four 2.5" SATA III drive bays, for a total of twelve drive bays. While the eight 3.5"/2.5" bays can only be used for data storage, the four dedicated 2.5" bays can be used for data storage or SSD caching. This NAS is powered using a 1.7 GHz ARM Cortex-A15 Quad-Core processor and 4GB of DDR3 RAM, which can be expanded to 16GB.
Network connectivity is achieved via the two 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ ports, which support 10GbE high-speed networks, as well as two Gigabit Ethernet ports. Using the integrated PCIe 2.0 x2 slot, a third 10GbE port may be installed. A variety of RAID modes are also supported, including RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, + hot spare, which offer data redundancy, speed, or a combination of both. For those who do not need a RAID, single disk use and JBOD are also supported. Additionally, there are three USB 3.0 Type-A ports, AES 256-bit encryption, and support for Virtual JBOD (VJBOD), which allows you to expand the storage of a QNAP NAS with multiple QNAP NAS units, and more.
The TS-1635 operates using a 250W power supply and 110-240 VAC at 50-60 Hz and 1.5-3A. The system is cooled using three 92mm fans, and is compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux, and UNIX operating systems. Included are 2 x Ethernet cables, a power cord, and 36 x 2.5" HDD flathead screws. Protection is provided by a limited 2-year warranty.
