Just buy this (or a third-party alternative) for the peace of mind. It's much better to replace a filter than the whole lens (or the whole camera, in the case of the X100VI).

Sure, it's more expensive than an off-brand alternative, but I invested in the lenses, so I'm going to invest in their protection. Fits solidly and is extremely well made.

its recommended NOT to attach the filter directly onto the lens. using the adapter will give the lens enough space to move when you turn it on .
Without the adapter you , possibly, will get a ' lens error' with possible damage to the lens.
