Albion V Tundra from Spitfire Audio is a Kontakt-powered virtual instrument with a library that captures the glacial motions and rhythms of the "northern climes", as performed by a large, 100-piece orchestra under the direction of Ben Foskett. Inspired by recordings from Arvo Pärt, Sibelius, Gorecki, and emerging artists from Scandinavia and Iceland, it offers composers, arrangers, and producers a collection of strings, woodwind, brass, bellow, and percussion samples recorded with dynamics ranging from medium/quiet to the faintest pianississimo, allowing them to take their soundtracks or music productions, down to the edge of silence.

Albion V Tundra was recorded at legendary AIR Studios in London using vintage tube and ribbon microphones, via a 2" Studer tape machine, Neve Montserrat pre-amps, and a Neve 88R desk. The resulting library comprises 27860 samples for 56.8GB of uncompressed WAV files at 96 kHz, each sample captured with four different microphone signals: Close, Tree, Ambient, and Outrigger. Highlights include 133 multi-dynamic articulations with cascading longs, flautando legatos designed by Andrew Blaney, brushed shorts, and loose pizzicatos.

The intuitive Evo Grid interface offers 32 evolutions arranged in 12 regions. All motions are tempo-locked to your host DAW tempo and mapped to different sections of the keyboard. Interesting combinations of sounds can be instantly generated by randomizing the selection using the Dice function at the top of the grid.

The software also comes with the eDNA engine which allows for further sound-morphing options.
