This second version of Minox's 8x33 BL-HD Series Binocular combines phase-corrected prisms, high density (HD) glass, anti-reflective multi-coated optics, and anomalous partial dispersion (APD) lens elements to create an optical system with well-rounded performance in all lighting conditions. The phase-corrected roof prisms and HD glass increase resolution and contrast, while the APD elements reduce chromatic aberration, that produce clear and bright images with true color representation across the entire field of view without distortion. When combined with its wide angle of view, long eye relief, and comfortable exit pupil, users will be presented with a panoramic and immersive observational experience.

Its lightweight polycarbonate housing reduces fatigue from long use while being impact, temperature, and corrosion-resistant. An open-bridge configuration further cuts the weight, while providing a sure grip whether you're using them with one hand or two. The optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed for fogproof performance and they are rated to be submersible to 16 feet. Twist-up eyecups let you customize the eye relief whether you wear glasses or not.

Optical Performance

  • 8x magnification
  • 33mm objective lenses
  • Compact roof prism optical path
  • Anomalous partial dispersion LD glass elements increase light transmission for brighter, clearer images with reduced chromatic aberration to limit color fringing and off-axis coma for true color fidelity
  • Phase correcting prism coatings increase internal prism reflectivity, and improve contrast and resolution
  • Fully multi-coated optics limits light loss while further improving image brightness, color rendition, and contrast
  • 420' field of view at 1000 yards
  • Wide 64° apparent angle of view
  • Long 17.5mm eye relief
  • Comfortable 4.1mm exit pupil

Use and Handling

  • Open-bridge, dual hinge configuration provides more gripping surface area to improve hold and comfort
  • ±4 dioptric correction
  • Large knurled center focus wheel
  • Twist-up click-stop eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear

Construction Details

  • Open-bridge design reduces weight without sacrificing strength or stability
  • Lightweight and durable polycarbonate chassis is temperature resistant to limit expansion and contraction prevents lens-shift over time that can move the optics out of collimation
  • Nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be water and fogproof, and submersible to 16' (5 m)
  • Broad operating temperature range from 14 to 122°F (-10 to 50°C)
  • Weight: 26.1 ounces
  • Made in Germany

What is the maximum IPD of these binoculars?
Asked by: Anonymous
The minimum IPD (distance between the centers of the ocular lenses) to be 5.9cm when you fully close the hinges. The maximum IPD is 7.7cm which is achieved by opening the hinges.
