EVGA GTX 1060 overview

  • 1Description

With an overclocked core and based on NVIDIA's Pascal architecture, the EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 SSC GAMING Graphics Card provides major improvements in performance, memory bandwidth, and power efficiency over its predecessor, the high-performance Maxwell architecture. It also introduces innovative graphics features and technologies that redefine the computer as the platform for playing AAA games and taking full advantage of virtual reality via NVIDIA VRWorks.

The front panel of the card features a variety of outputs. There are three DisplayPort 1.4 outputs in addition to an HDMI 2.0b output and a DVI-D Dual-Link output. The GTX 1060 is not just about high-resolution gaming. Computationally intensive programs can utilize the GPU's 1280 cores to accelerate tasks using CUDA or other APIs.

For cooling, EVGA implemented ACX 3.0 cooling technology. It has more heatpipes and a larger copper contact area for cooler operation as well as optimized fan curve for even quieter gaming. The dual fans feature optimized swept fan blades, double ball bearings, and an extreme low power motor, delivering more air flow with less power and unlocking additional power for the GPU.

VRWorks
VRWorks Graphics includes a simultaneous multi-projection capability that renders natively to the unique dimensions of VR displays instead of traditional 2D monitors. It also renders geometry for the left and right eyes simultaneously in a single pass.

VRWorks Audio uses the NVIDIA OptiX ray-tracing engine to trace the path of sounds across an environment in real-time, fully reflecting the size, shape, and material of the virtual world.

NVIDIA PhysX for VR detects when a hand controller interacts with a virtual object, and enables the game engine to provide a physically accurate visual and haptic response. It also models the physical behavior of the virtual world around the user so that all interactions -- whether an explosion or a hand splashing through water -- behave as if in the real world.
NVIDIA Ansel
With Ansel, gamers can compose the gameplay shots they want, pointing the camera in any direction and from any vantage point within a gaming world. They can capture screenshots at up to 32 times the screen resolution, and then zoom in where they choose without losing fidelity. With photo-filters, they can add effects in real-time before taking the shot. And they can capture 360-degree stereo photospheres for viewing in a VR headset or Google Cardboard.
CUDA
With CUDA, NVIDIA allows applications to hand off CPU-intensive tasks to the GPU. Your GPU is no longer just used for rendering graphics, but it can provide teraflops of floating point performance and accelerate application tasks, from real-time video rendering to fluid dynamics simulation. CUDA is used in many applications and games.
G-SYNC Ready
When used with a monitor that has G-SYNC hardware installed, the monitor's refresh rate will sync and lock with the graphics card's output frame rate. Establishing this sync removes tearing and stuttering which can result from conventional fixed screen refresh rates, especially important for gaming in stereoscopic 3D. An additional benefit of G-SYNC is reduced lag so gamers will benefit from the improved command response time as well.
NVIDIA GPU Boost 3.0
Boosts the card's clock speed in real-time based on the target temperature. If the card is running below the set target temperature, GPU Boost 3.0 will increase the clock speed to improve performance. The target temperature can be reset depending on your preference so you can have the card run more quietly for everyday tasks and older games, and run at full tilt during intense high-resolution gaming sequences.

    EVGA GTX 1060 reviews

GeForce GTX 1060 SSC GAMING Graphics Card is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Starting GPU I got this thing for around $270, and it is phenomenal. There's another 1060 single fan edition, go the extra $10/$20 to get this one. Since I don't know any weird specs other reviewers say, I will tell you what I can play on it. I can Play Rainbow Six at a max 144 frames (monitor supports that much) at the highest settings. I can play Arma 3 at 100 frames at the highest settings, and I can play a game called Squad at 80 frames online at high/ medium settings (medium being shadows and reflections, things your don't really need). With temperatures staying relatively below 80 C. Overall, get this if you are starting a PC build like I did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Mid-range card for the $$ Plays most current games 1080p at max settings or very close. Renders and edits video very quickly. The dual fan version is quieter and runs cooler than the single fan version, but at 10.5 inches, do make sure you have room in your case to accommodate this behemoth; it is almost into the hard drive bays of my cavernous old Antec 300. In addition to a eight pin power (6+2) power cable, you might also need right angle SATA cables if your SATA sockets end up being behind the card. I did. The LED "EVGA GTX 1060" emblem is a cool touch; I may have to upgrade my case so I can actually see it, LOL. I'm going to snag a couple more as stocking stuffers for my sons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GOOD as always. I'm video editor and i build my own computers to work at home, actually i'm using Adobe Suite and Avid, this video card is a replacement for my old (but still good) GTX 660, small render problems disappear, good processing speed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GTX 1060 SSC Gaming Card I bought this to replace the old video card (quadro 4000) for my almost 6 years old DIY desktop (i7-2600k) with the Asus motherboard. This thing runs smooth and quiet. No problem at all so far....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Bang for Your Buck While GPU prices are finally falling, plenty of cards are still too expensive. The GTX 1060 is no exception. Although I feel it's a good middle ground and is the happy middle in terms of power vs price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Graphics Card I am currently using this in my first self built computer. It can run any game I want to at its best graphics without frame rate issues. Also it is very quiet. I can find no problems so far

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good so far I got it mostly for my work with the Unreal Engine and motion capturing. Very good quality. I don't see much difference from my older 1050 card but then I am not a gamer and dont run benchmarks, so for everyday work this is good card. I like the 6MB memory especially after the 4MB on my old one
