Leupold's LTO-Tracker Thermal Monocular allows hunters and outdoors enthusiasts to understand their surroundings better, detect wildlife, or recover game. Whether day or night, it detects people and animals through smoke, fog, and dust. Built around its 206 x 156 uncooled thermal sensor, the monocular's sensitivity operates in the long-wave infrared spectrum (from 5.1 to 12.4µm), allowing it to differentiate between temperatures from -40 to 572°F. With its round 240 x 204-pixel color LCD display, and digital reticle, it delivers images in six different color palettes at a refresh rate of 30 Hz. For ease of use and versatility in the field, the device offers a simple three-button menu that gives you a full control of options, zooming, and the digital reticle. To simplify things, the optics are focused at infinity and will deliver a maximum horizontal field of view of 21°. Providing you with the freedom to take it anywhere and anytime, the monocular measures 5.6" in length and can easily fit into your pocket. The waterproof housing is made of lightweight and durable aluminum alloy, and has a rubberized covering for a non-slip grip.

LTO-Tracker Thermal Monocular (30 Hz, Matte Black) is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice up close, don't expect much from a distance I don't want to talk bad about this thing, at close range, it is really cool. Any further than 100 yards and I don't think it would be of much value. The range on the LTO is listed at 600 yards. At 70 yards, my 80 pound dog was nothing more than a small yellow ball. The zoom simply makes the screen larger, it doesn't zoom like turning up the power on a scope. I was very excited to get one of these and even waited a month for it but am pretty disappointed in what it ended up being. I'm sure for trailing a fresh blood trail it would be very useful but for long range location, I don't think it would be of much help.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Changed night hunting tactics for hogs Have had the LTO for about a month and taken it on two night time hog hunts, both successes due to the LTO. If used within it true limits, it is a great tool. I feel comfortable using it to locate suspected game out to 200 yards, then making positive identification with a quality green LED hunting light. It takes some time to get familiar with the heat sources it is detecting. With time, the more I use it, the better I am getting at interpreting what it is actually detecting. Did use on one hog kill, to locate the kill, once it ran into the wood line. Could not find it with a quality light, but the LTO quickly found the downed animal. Overall, I really like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Prevented a house fire I bought one yesterday, and after wanding around my house with it I noticed a previous guest had left a candle warmer in a spare bedroom, and it was still on (for 3-4 weeks). Maybe it wouldn't have done any harm, but worst case could have been a house fire while I was gone during the day. On behalf of me, and my six month old puppy, you will NOT regret getting one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it Affordable and small device that gives you an advantage in the field. Finding a downed deer during archery season just got a lot easier. Also helps when trying to sneak in or out of the stand when it's dark outside. I'm looking forward to trying it during spring turkey season to find early morning birds in the roost. Downside; no protective case or cover for the lens.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The concept and price are great! The one weakness is the digital zoom. If it was an optical zoom, then it would be great. But a digital zoom only exaggerates any distortion, whereas an optical zoom would clarify a distant object.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well for the price To start, you can't compare this to the $2,000-$3,000 units you see in stores or on TV. It works very well out to 30-40 yards and good to fair out to maybe 60 yards or so. The magnification feature beyond beyond 3x is relatively useless as the image on the screen gets too grainy. I am able to see my dog easily at 40ish yards, people, deer, armadillos, racoon, hogs (great as they have no hair)etc. (Not our sheep but they have 2 inches of wool, too insulated,,, I do see their eyes and faces.) All in all, yes, if you want to get an entry level thermal, this is it. It also of course has the Leupold name which I trust. The only thing it is lacking,,,, unless I have just not found one yet,,, is a case for it. But a child's sock works well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good unit for the price This is a good unit for the price, but it suffers by having a very low resolution.
    Date published: 2017-01-21
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Accept it for what it is! All users and potential users should accept the LTO for what it is: a thermal imaging device. It does not operate with visible light, and doesn't use scope optics. Therefore, optical zoom is out of the question, as is high resolution. Thermal devices are valuable for seeing warm blooded objects in the dark, and when they are obscured in brush. They complement binoculars, but don't replace them.
