Really Right Stuff TVC-34 overview

  • 1Description

The TVC-34 from Really Right Stuff is a mid-weight series 3 carbon fiber tripod designed for use in both the field and studio.

Constructed from Really Right Stuff's patented carbon fiber weave, the TVC-34 weighs in at 4.4 lb and can safely support up to 50 lb. It's 4-section leg design allows the tripod to extend to a maximum height of 58.5" and lower down to a minimum working height of just 3.8".

Quick set-up and break-down is facilitated by easy-to-use twist locks, which require just a quarter rotation to unlock and re-lock each leg section. This design also helps to maintain the tripod's slim folded silhouette. Additionally, when traveling with or storing the tripod, the entire support can fold down to just 21.1" in length, small enough to travel or hike with.

Each leg is attached to the tripod's collar via an offset leg joint that helps to evenly distribute heavy loads and maintain the tripod's rigidity. The joints and collar itself are constructed of lightweight anodized aluminum which, aside from lending inherent strength to the tripod, also provides it with natural wear and corrosion resistance. Each one of the three leg joints also features a ratcheting angle stop that automatically locks into place as the legs are folded downward into "standard" position.

The TVC-34's feet are a unique teardrop shape that prevents the leg sections from touching the ground at even the lowest height settings and the most unusual angles. Their rubber exterior provides a non-slip grip on nearly any surface and can be used both indoors and outdoors without concern. For users wishing to change the native rubber feet to metal "all-terrain" spikes, a set of metal spikes are available separately.

    Really Right Stuff TVC-34 reviews

TVC-34 Versa Series 3 Carbon Fiber Tripod is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional Quality I purchased the RRS TVC-34 from RRS several months ago. So far it has exceed my expectations. It is compact and light enough to travel with, but remains stable when fully extended. I am 5' 11 and with the BH-55 ball-head attached I do not have to fully extend this tripod to bring the camera to eye-level.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really happy with it I kind of cringed at the price at first. But then read the reviews and decided to buy as I was looking for a sturdy stable tripod without a center column for wildlife and landscape photography. After having used it several times since purchasing it I feel I made the right choice, as this one by far is the most stable one I have ever owned the quality the best to and easy to setup for the most part. My only issue and the reason I am giving it 4 stars out of 5 is I wish it came in a faster flip level lock for the legs instead of the twist lock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock solid support. Perfect height. Reasonably compact. I purchased this to use for tracking birds with a DSLR and long zoom/telephoto. I'm 6'1 and this puts the camera eyepiece at eye-level when fully extended with a ballhead. The 4 leg segments also keeps it relatively compact for travel. These legs are a notch above the Gitzo Series 3. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect balance of weight, strength and height This is an amazing piece of kit. I have had this tripod for about 3 years now and have no complaints. It is very strong and stable. It is truly the perfect balance of weight, strength and height. It folds down to about 20.5" when you remove the feet so it fits snugly into a 22" carry-on. I have taken some gorgeous shots with this including pano's with a large pano rig at the Grand Tetons, Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, Antelope and others with no vibration issues. I have an Arca-Swiss Z-1 head on it with a panoramic clamp (total wt about 6.5 lbs), and an optech tripod strap and have carried this up steep terrain. For professional sized DSLR's and fast lenses there is nothing better. I tried a similar Gitzo Systematic, which was cheaper, but this was better in every way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this tripod I love this tripod so far though I have not used it much yet and was a little bit leery about the price initially. But after using it now about 8 time in a few different settings. I know I made the right decision on buying. It's by far the most stable of any of the tripods I have owned. My only wish it it came with some neoprene or soft rubber cover to hold and for carrying it around that is not so cold on the hands. With that said I know I will get years of use out of it. This is a solid well designed tripod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feels stable Feels really stable when I set it up, especially in windy conditions. I underestimated the height though. With a ballhead on top, fully extended, and D850 mounted, I can't see the small screen on top (I'm 5'10). Without extending it all the way it seems to be a good height for me though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy once. Don't need to buy another again. Each leg is separate which means you can use this on extremely uneven surfaces/locations. That is a big leg up (haha) on the competition who typically have all 3 legs connected to the center post. Very solid tripod and handles my Sony A9 with a 200mm lens with no problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock solid I'm amazed how rock solid this tripod is for the weight. I'm only 5'5 so this tripod is taller than I need but will serve me well on uneven ground. The BH-40 will not work on this. The ball lever doesn't clear the head platform. This is a beast of a tripod and I mean that in a good way. Capable of handling any equipment with the right head.
