    Really Right Stuff BH-55 reviews

BH-55 Ball Head with Full Size Screw-Knob Clamp is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Probably the best ball head money can buy - not the cheapest Overall, this is one of the top ball heads money can buy. Not the cheapest, but very well constructed, has a 5 year warranty. At a $450+ price tag, this is not the cheapest unit out there, but then again, it also performs very well, especially for heavy camera gear. If you're going to use anything larger than a 70-200mm lens with your camera, I would get this ball head. This will probably be the last ball head you buy, so despite being expensive, you'll buy it and not have to worry about it falling apart after a few years or the ball join wearing out. They are highly recommended by the pros, like Scott Kelby and many others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Ball Head Simply the best Ball Head I've used. ...My first tripod was a Manfrotto, so I have purchased several Manfrotto Ball heads and they have been okay... by that I mean the Manfrotto heads only take Manfrotto plates, so if you want to utilize Swiss Arca Style plates you need a workaround. And the Ball on the Manfrotto Heads is smaller than the BH55, so there is a little more play in the connection between the Camera and the Tripod. After doing some research, I decided to try the RSS head, and I'm so please that I did. It's easy to use, even for an old guy like me with arthritic thumbs, and it's Rock Solid when tightened down. I'm using the BH55 on my Fiesol and Manfrotto tripods ad it's Amazing !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Greatest! RRS BH-55 w/ screw-knob clamp The REALLY RIGHT STUFF BH-55 ball head with the screw-knob clamp is a very good product. I could not decide between a BH-55 with the lever clamp and the screw-knob version so I purchased both. These ball heads are truly amazing. The screw-knob type clamp is a little slower to operate, however, this clamp lets you decide how much you want to tighten up the plate connection. On the other hand, the lever release clamp is easy to use and is a real time saver. I have owned LINHOF, GITZO and ARCA-SWISS ball heads. They are good, but the REALLY RIGHT STUFF BH-55 is better. I'm a happy customer. You should be too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Everything that was said about this balhead is true, but... I bought this to use it with aTP-243 for macro (Sony 90mm + A7) and for wildlife photography with a Nikon D810 and a 300mm f2.8. The ball-head is beautifully machined and I love the over sized knob. That being said, i was disappointed by the tension control mechanism. I was not able to find a sweet spot neither with the macro nor with the 300mm. The ball movement is either too soft and it does not support the camera/lens combo when I take my hand off it or too choppy, when it is tightened enough to keep the camera when I take my hand off it. Previously I had a BH-40 which I used for 9 years until I foolishly sold it, which had very nice and smooth tension control. I do not know what to do, honestly. I read that the tension control loosens a bit with use. But I will not use this ball-head enough for this to happen - probably at most 10 shoots per year. At the price point I was expecting to be fully usable off the box...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best ball head I've ever used. The best ball head I've ever had, and I've tried a bunch. I do a lot of macro work. When I need to tip the camera down to focus from above, I lock it in place and it doesn't move at all. Every other head I've owned I've had to fight to keep it lined up. They've always dropped a bit and I had to line it up again. This head is a pleasure to work with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply fantastic! An unbelievable ball head. Stable and easy to use. No drift when locking. If I had bought this one first, I would have saved money in the long term because I would have avoided the numerous cheaper and less serviceable heads that I bought. Without question one of the finest ball heads on the market today! If you can afford it, it is worth every penny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy but great ball-head Sturdy & well-built. I've used with my 300 f4 and 500 f4; locks solid and does what it's supposed to.
