Dedicated to the Nikon D500 DSLR with MB-D17 Battery Grip, the BMBD17 Base Plate from Really Right Stuff is an Arca-type compatible plate that facilitates easier, more stable mounting of your camera atop a tripod. This plate features a modular design that allows it to accept an optional L-component, which combine to form a dedicated L-plate. The custom-fit design maintains full access to the battery door and features a boss for an accessory hand strap. Additionally, the CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum construction is finished with a Type II black anodizing, a 1/4"-20 threaded mounting socket is featured on the base, and a laser-engraved center mark is placed on the rear of the plate for easy alignment.

The RRS camera plate fits perfectly and works perfectly and RRS has replaced the missing magnet. But B&H has moved from my number one go to place to the last place due to orders with missing parts and new products with showing heavy usage and other orders with problems

The hex wrench is always handy, and theres a solid anchor point for a non-RRS hand strap. Great design.

I see a number of books listed as accessories for this plate but I don't see the L-component listed. Does that mean you don't sell it?

Unfortunately we currently do not sell the L-component alone. However, we do carry B&H# REBMBD17LLPL which are both components together as a full L plate set.

Does this plate also fit the Vello BG-N17 battery grip for the D500?

Yes,the Really Right Stuff BMBD17 Base Plate for Nikon MB-D17 Battery Grip will work with the Vello BG-N17 Battery Grip for Nikon D500 as well.
