Really Right Stuff PG-02 FG Overview

The PG-02 FG Pano-Gimbal Head with PG-CC Cradle Clamp from Really Right Stuff is a full-size, dual-function tripod head designed to support DSLRs with up to a 600mm lens attached.

With a load capacity of 50 lb, the PG-02 is a reliable and stable support able to effortlessly and accurately shift position when tracking moving subjects like wildlife or birds in flight. With a separately available Really Right Stuff B2-LLR-II Lever-Release Clamp, the PG-02 is also recommended for users wishing to capture single or multi-row panoramas with collared lenses.

The PG-02's design consists of two arms that control the rotation and swing of the cameras position. The base arm is connected directly to the integrated base rotator, which features a laser-engraved 360° scale for accurate positioning when capturing single or multi-row panoramas. The vertical arm, which mounts to the base arm via Arca-type clamp, may be positioned with the assistance of a laser-engraved millimeter scale. The vertical arm also features an adjustable rotator with engraved 360° markings and a lever-lock equipped Arca-type cradle clamp for mounting and dismounting your camera and lens foot.

Although the PG-02 is primarily a still photography support, considerations for video users have also been made to make the head more accessible. On the top of the vertical side arm is an array of threaded accessory ports that can accommodate clamps, magic arms, and the direct mounting of LCD monitors, and microphones. The array features a 3/8"-16 female socket in the center which is surrounded by four 1/4"-20 female threads on the top, bottom, left, and, right.

Can the clamp be rotated or re-positioned so that a camera body on an L bracket can be attached for wide angle photography?
Asked by: Wes
In my case, I purchased a MPR-192 rail and attached a RRS B2-LR II clamp. The lever clamp is then perpendicular to the cradle and you can mount your camer that way. You could also buy a Wimberley M-8 Perpendicular Plate.

Can you adjust the panning and tilt tension ?
Asked by: STEVEN
Yes, the knob at the end of the pan bar controls the tension. the silver knob on the top side adjusts the tilt tension. You wont be disappointed! RRS is the best!

question

This head can be used while walking around in birding ? the nodal clamp can hold the lens weight of 800mm ?
Asked by: Rahul S.
Using the RRS PG-02 in a mobile setting would be awkward and cumbersome. Yes...can be done, but not ideal for this application. May work for sports on a mono-pod, but will definitely be problematic on a tripod.
