The MPR-192 & FAS-Clamp Package from Really Right Stuff creates a versatile tool for photographers doing panoramic photography. This package is a very precise nodal point slider for non-collared lenses because of the laser-engraved index marks on both the rail and the clamp. Due to the index marks, camera positions can also be repeated on the rail.
The MPR-192 Rail has a double dovetail design, which allow accessories to clamp to the top or bottom of the rail. Both rail and clamps are made from CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum, and they have an anodized Type II black finish. A bull's-eye bubble level is built into the rail to keep both camera and lens leveled to the horizon.
The FAS-Clamp from Really Right Stuff has Arca-type compatible mounting surfaces on both the top and bottom of the clamp, and it mounts onto camera bars and rails in a parallel orientation. Mounting parallel allows the clamp to slide forward or back on the rail. The top clamp channel runs in a left to right orientation, which allows the camera to face forward for macro photography. It can also be used as a nodal slider for collared telephoto lenses.
There are two separate locking systems built into the FAS-Clamp. The side-locking knob controls the bottom clamp and locks it into position on a camera bar or multi-purpose rail. The locking-release lever opens the top clamp and it allows plates to be top-loaded quickly and easily. Locking down on a plate, the clamp has a holding power of 50 lb.
The CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum FAS-Clamp has an anodized type II black finish. The locking-release lever is made from stainless steel, and opening and closing the locking-cam is simply done with just finger force. The low-profile lever hugs the side of the clamp in a closed position, and it is less likely to get damaged by catching on clothing or something else in the field. Additionally, there are laser-engraved scales on top and bottom for repeatable alignment.
The 7.6" Multi-Purpose Rail from Really Right Stuff is a double dovetail plate designed to mount to the bottoms of medium and large format cameras, and the rail will also accommodate to a telephoto lens foot that does not exceed 6.75" in length. The rail has two separate 1.6" and 2.8" slotted lengths, so the lens foot can be adjusted on top of the rail.
Once the lens has been secured to the rail with the 1/4"-20 screws and adjusted; the MPR-C flange can be installed in ten different positions to prevent twisting on a ball head or clamp. The laser-engraved plate has a 1mm increment scale, so the position of the shot is repeatable, and also keep the image level with the built-in bubble level.
