Works well as nodal rail

I use this with the Acratech Panoramic Head and Leveling Base as a nodal rail to get perfectly aligned panoramas. This does the job.

RRS produce engineering works of art and this simple rail is no exception. You can be very confident with any of the RRS brackets, ball heads and rails. Brilliant! Very fast delivery from B&H vis DHL Express.

Works Great

I have had good experience so far with this pano rail with 35mm cameras. It works perfectly with the RRS PC-PRO panning head head on a ball head travel tripod and by itself on a larger tripod with leveling base and an Arca Swiss geared cube head. My only con is that the clamp is permanently oriented perpendicular to the rail. I have both a medium and a large format field camera that have dedicated rail plates parallel to the lens direction that will not work with this rail. However, I have ordered an RRS MPR-192 with a clamp that can be oriented either parallel or perpendicular to the rail. I wish I had thought this out better before buying this one. But if you are using a 35 mm camera with an L-bracket, this one is absolutely a best choice.

I looked at other alternatives to RRS rail integral clamp but many were expensive and large in size. With its built in level and easy attachment to my RRS ball head this was a very simple solution.

It took a while to understand how to position it for the longer lenses I own, but once adjusted for its longer length, it functions as described. Glad i got the longer nodal slide as all but 1 of my lenses needed the longer length.

Works just like it's supposed to. The build quality is excellent, typical of RRS. It's easy to calibrate the lenses and negate parallax.

Great item for making panoramas with a telephoto lens.

Really right stuff makes hideously expensive products, but at the same time, these folks make tremendous high-quality products made here in the United States. I purchased this through B&H for several reasons, first, the company never offers a discount so I'll grab one from B&H with the PayBo credit card and at least save the tax money. The other thing is really right stuff has a tremendous backlog for just about every item in their catalogue. You can ask them to send you an email when a product is in stock but they never do. On the other hand, B&H always does, so for small items like this, it's just common sense to purchase these things in the long run from B&H.

question

What is the accessory seen in the 4th picture of the product? Looks like a macro rail adapter but I could not find any information about it.
Asked by: Marc
That is a part that RRS does not make any more. And you can use many other rails with that as it is Arca-Swiss style connection.
