DJI TB50 Overview

The DJI TB50 Intelligent Flight Battery is a replacement battery for your Inspire 2 quadcopter and is also compatible with the Ronin 2 gimbal. Like the battery that came with your Inspire 2, this is a 4280mAh, lithium-ion polymer (LiPo) battery that yields between 25 and 27 minutes of flight time, depending on conditions and which Zenmuse system you use.

In addition to enhanced flight time, the Intelligent Flight Battery uses a built-in 70W self-heating system capable of heating itself to 41°F every minute. This self-heating function can be enabled either automatically or manually. The management unit constantly monitors battery status, making all information, including battery level and battery temperature, easily visible in the DJI GO app.

DJI TB50 Batteries - Poor Service Life

Using the DJI Charging Station and flying in Inspire 2 down to auto land or about 15-20%, I'm finding these batteries start swelling at about 25 charge cycles. A 4-set inventory is a minimum for many commercial projects, so a 25 charge cycle cost is $180 x 8 or US$1,440. DJI Support recommends they no longer be used when swollen or has reached 200 charge cycles; I've never seen 200 charge cycles and DJI's warranty period is 12 months. Pathetic.

This battery is great. I appreciate how it locks in with an audible snap/click so I know it is secure. The ventilation system was well thought out. Charge time seems to be less than I expected. The only reason I rated it a 4/5 was that I would have liked a longer flight time. Im currently experiencing 24-26 minutes at 4,600' Pressure altitude with a 15-20% reserve.

Ordered a new set to replace one of my sets that ballooned up. The swelling that happens to DJI batteries is always a concern. They have gone up in cost recently. I replaced one set and now another. They're good for about two years - if your lucky.

I ordered two of these. One was fine, the other will not take a charge. I am disappointed in what DJI has done with the expensive Inspire 2 system. Looking forward to the Sony quadcopter
