The YN-300C LED 5500K On-Camera Light is one of a series of on-camera LED lights from Yongnuo Digital. This compact, adjustable unit offers two dimming modes (rough and fine), four barndoors, a power-on/brightness adjustment knob, and four filter panels. The included IR remote control not only enables you to adjust and power the YN-300C but also provides shutter control for Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Pentax DSLRs with IR reception. The YN-300C LED 5500K On-Camera Light also features an auto-dimming mode that adjusts the light's output according to the ambient light level.

There appear to be 4-5 buttons on the back but I can't see what the legends are for these. What do these buttons do?
On the rear of the lamp, the large button/dial on the left is the on/off and brightness control. The M button toggles between Manual brightness and Auto brightness. The Bat button shows the amount of battery strength. The SOS button starts a SOS signal cycle. (You never know when you will get marooned in the middle of the ocean on a movie shoot) The C button toggles between coarse and fine control of the brightness dial. is the battery included ?
This light does not include a battery. It uses Sony NP-F Style batteries, we have great kits available with batteries and a charger you could purchase as well.https://bhpho.to/2BxztSz

This light has a standard 1/4 -20 thread on the bottom of it.

Does this light work with power adapter connected to wall?
Hello, I have other lighting systems and they are powered with the same Sony L Series battery. I therefore have wall adapters that can be used with this unit. I found this light to be very useful and most of all with the handle provided for finding the sweet spot for the light. This unit did not come with battery or adapter so also get the extras it will make your creative photo work easier.

curious if this would be good for subjects 20 feet away recording video?
Depends on your project and what camera you are using. If you need a lot of diffused light I would not suggest this light. If your camera does well in low light and you're looking to add some highlights or backlights it's great.
