Yongnuo YN- 2.0X III overview

  • 1Description

When your telephoto lens isn't quite long enough, the Extender EF 2X III Teleconverter from Yongnuo can help you double its reach. Designed to work with select Canon EF mount lenses, this teleconverter provides a 2x magnification factor that effectively doubles the focal length of your lenses. This takes a 400mm f/2.8 and transforms it into an 800mm f/5.6. Featuring electronic communication from the lens to the camera, this teleconverter allows for all standard functions of the lens to work as normal, including autofocus and image stabilization.

Extender EF 2X III Teleconverter is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy this, it works great. It is really simple, I bought this extender, it arrived in less than one day, I put it on my Canon 60D with a 70 - 200 2.8 lens and I took some pictures. It works great. I have had no problems. I have not noticed a delay in focusing times or any other problems. The images are exactly the same quality as without the extender, only larger.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Image Quality, some little problems Pros: Great image quality! Similar to Canon Extender 2X vII. The AF speed is also similar to the Canon, if not slightly better (I haven't tested a Canon vIII, I hear that its AF speed is faster than vII). It beats the Canons hands down on price... Cons: Although it report the EF 70-200 f2.8 MkII as a 140-400 and the max aperture as f5.6, the images are overexposed by two stops on my 60D. I've heard reports that it affects exposure similarly on the 80D and the 7DII. The exposure on my 5DIII does not appear to be affected as much. Exposure Compensation can solve this in-camera. Another issue which may affect cameras with Micro-Adjustment, is that the camera does not report the presence of the Extender for AFMA. As a result, if you need a different AFMA setting, you will have to change the settings every time you use the extender.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from returning it After much research decided to purchase this extender instead of the Canon brand. Compatibility listings showed that it would work with my Canon 100-400 3.5-5.6 and 70-200 2.8. Turns out that it won't autofocus with the 100-400, and it's impossible to manual focus since you halve the lens speed and can hardly see enough through the viewfinder (i.e. 11.2 aperture). Even when focused, the picture quality with either lens was poor at best. Oh, well. So much for saving a few bucks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Auto focus and exposure problem i was exited to get this one i thought it was too good to be true and it was. As soon as i tried it with the 100-400 version 1 it couldn't auto focus at all. i went manual focus and to my surprise the exposure was not even right, it was around 3 or 4 stops brighter.
