how does this compare to Sony UWP-D16 2-Person ...

how does this compare to Sony UWP-D16 2-Person Camera-Mount Wireless Combo Microphone System Kit?
Asked by: Dina
The kit is identical in every way with one difference. This one includes TWO body packs with lav mics whereas the UWP-D16 includes ONE body pack with lav mic and ONE plug-in transmitter for a hand-held mic. Choose which better serves your work flow, you can buy the UWP-D16 now and later on add on another body pack with lav mic so you have all your needs covered, keep in mind going this route that you'll end up with THREE transmitters and only be able to use TWO at any given time. Hope that helps.

Can this system mix down the two channels to a ...

Can this system mix down the two channels to a single XLR panning one to Left track and the other to the Right?
Asked by: Devon
Since an analog signal coming from an XLR is only a mono signal to begin with, the answer would be no. It sounds like you are confusing this with a 2 channel AES digital signal which uses the same connector. The mic signals as you describe would be mixed at the output of the receiver as it enters the camera or external recorder, preventing separate editing. The system was designed to send one of the transmitters signal to the left channel of your camera and the other to the right, giving you a stereo track that can be separated in editing.

Products like these are not distance rated by Sennheiser as performance can vary widely depending upon a variety of environmental conditions. Suffice to say that the range can be up to several hundred feet.

question

Can I use this with a Canon XA35 and does it come with the hotshoe mount?
Asked by: Anonymous
No hot shoe mount. you need SMADP3D. But it only works with smart shoes. Maybe even only SONY smart shoes. NOT sure. If you have that It does allow to put those two channels on 3&4.
