SAFETY FIRST: Observing the Sun without the proper protection may result in serious personal injury, including permanent eye damage and blindness, and/or damage to equipment. Never point an optic at the sun without an approved solar filter on the front of the optic. For direct solar viewing, viewing the sun through an optic, or when using cameras with an optical viewfinder, ensure your filter is ISO 12312-2 (also written as ISO 12312-2:2015) certified. Never use photographic neutral density filters for direct solar viewing, viewing the sun through an optic, or when using cameras with an optical viewfinder.

Photograph sunspots, surface granulation, eclipses and planetary transits with your telephoto lens and the StarGuy 62mm Thread-in White-Light Solar Filter. These filters display the sun in a neutral white color without the red or blue tinting common in many glass and film filters. Made of a tear-resistant solar-viewing film, it is coated on both sides to eliminate the effects of pinholes while the intentional wrinkles improve image contrast and will not affect image quality or safety. The filter ring is made of a durable and lightweight aluminum alloy coated with a reflection-limiting anodized finish. This version of the solar filter has threads that allow it to thread onto the front of 62mm lenses. For the safety of your eyes and equipment, never look or point the camera directly at the sun through a lens without proper solar filters as permanent damage to the gear and your eyes will occur.

    62mm Thread-in White-Light Solar Filter is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product for amateur. Bought filter for photographing August solar eclipse. The filter is aluminum foil-like filter with step down ring to fit my 62mm Sony Alpha. I wasn't too careful the first time I handled filter a put a small crease in filter. Fortunately the crease was only near the outer ring and doesn't interfere with picture. For the price, I would think there would be some sort of protection for the thin skinned filter. I took a few pictures of the mid-day sun to get my settings. At 1/8000 sec and ISO 6400, I get a white image of the sun. I am using a Sony F3.5-6.3/18-200 zoom set to infinity with the manual focus on my Alpha 700. With that setup, I will probably get the images of the moon crossing the sun's face but not much more. For professional shots which include the corona, you will need higher level equipment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but... I bought this filter in preparation for the solar eclipse as hundreds of other people are doing. This filter is listed as a white light filter. Well... my first time using it, my photos came out with a blue tint. Maybe my white balance is off. I would suggest setting your white balance to daylight balance while using this filter. It's an easy fix in post but would have been nice if the description mentioned this to help others. Otherwise, it's a great filter with a great price. Solid build. This is a solar film film, be careful when handling.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from needs tape to hold together The filter worked as advertised. I used it during the full eclipse in KY. I did have a major problem with it though. While taking the filter off during totality, it came apart, unscrewed filter from frame. I couldn't get it back together in time for the second half of the eclipse. Good thing I got shots during the 1st half. I would recommend taping the filter together so that it unscrews all at the same time. Will use it for sun shots before the next one in 2024 in CLE Ohio.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I would not buy this product again. The film is very delicate and may have arrived with a pin hole already in it. I was able to photograph the sun without any visible effect of the pin hole, however. The film is housed between what are essentially two grooved rings. In removing the filter from the camera, it is very easy for the two rings to separate and for the film to fall out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Satisfied Used this for 2017 eclipse and it worked very well. Sun was not tinted at all and came out perfectly white. I even got images of sunspots on the sun at the time. Great product for amateur use. Upload Photo feature not working. It does not let me browse my files.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Preadory pricing on filter Well, here we have a item you can't do without--consisting of a threaded brass ring and a piece of Mylar being sold at glass filter prices--I am ashamed B&H would be part of it Stan

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not satisfied Very helpful sales associate, prompt delivery, but photos through this filter are blurry. Will be sending it back for credit. Jim D. Roseville, MN

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Over priced Way over priced and the lens is very flimsy. I may wind up using welder's glass and make my own, if time permits.
