The 2.5" SSDs are installed into four of the eight hot-swappable drive bays, which leaves room for any additional drives you already own or wish to purchase separately.

    Add the speed and storage capabilities of Thunderbolt 3 and RAID to your Windows system using the RocketStor 6618A 8-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Enclosure from HighPoint. It is well suited for not only 4K workflows, but also increased performance and protection. The RocketStor 6618A supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and JBOD, each of which will provide users with performance, data redundancy, or a combination of both. The 6618A is equipped with an integrated RAID-on-Chip storage processor and 512MB of DDR3 cache memory with ECC protection. Using Hardware RAID technology, this enclosure is able to utilize the host system's surplus CPU and memory resources to enhance transfer speeds, which can reach up to 2,700 MB/s in RAID 0 and 2,700 MB/s in RAID 5.

    The RocketStor 6618A has 8 drive bays that support 3.5" and 2.5" SAS & SATA hard drives and SSDs. All the drive bays feature LEDs noting power, activity, failure, and identify, all of which help report on the status of each drive. The 6618A is also equipped with dual Thunderbolt 3 ports, which allow for daisy-chaining up to six independent RocketStor 6618A units or other peripherals, such as dual 4K displays, using a single Thunderbolt 3 host port. Thunderbolt 3 operates at 40 Gb/s, which allows simultaneous bi-directional transfer speeds at up to 20 Gb/s.

    The 6618A has been designed with a user-friendly and browser-based RAID Storage Management Suite that allows users to configure, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot RAID configurations and individual storage devices. Advanced Management Features will allow users to configure E-mail notifications to inform users of changing storage conditions while outside of the work environment and manage storage remotely via a local network connection. Additionally, it is possible to schedule RAID verification sessions and a Storage Health Inspector (SHI) will help to maintain the health of the entire system. Included with this RAID are 8 x drive trays, 1 x Thunderbolt 3 cable, 1 x UL Power Cord, 32 x 3.5" HDD mounting screws, and 32 x 2.5" SSD mounting screws. Using a separately sold adapter, the RocketStor 6618A may be used with Thunderbolt 2 interfaces, and the supported operating systems are Windows Server 2000 and later, Windows 8 and later, and Mac OS X 10.10 and later.

    The RocketStor 6618A has integrated a series of preemptive security measures to maximize storage uptime whenever data is needed. Redundant RAID 5 and 6 protection shields storage configurations from 1 or 2 disk failures, respectively. The RocketStor Storage Health Inspector (SHI) proactively maintains the health of arrays by examining each drive for failed sectors & dynamically repair/remap on the fly to keep storage ready & able.
    HighPoint DV Mode for Streaming Performance
    DV Mode Technology intelligently manages the flow of large data blocks and write-back caching to help minimize latency and ensure consistent, sustained high-performance transfers for media-rich applications.
    RAID Recovery
    HighPoint Hardware RAID solutions feature built-in NVRAM, which constantly tracks in-progress writes to preserve the integrity of data in the event of a drive failure or system crash, and streamline recovery procedures while minimizing downtime. Administrators can initialize or schedule RAID verification sessions that check each disk member of an array for parity consistency. If any parity related problems are found, the interface will immediately rebuild the array to ensure the integrity of your data.
    Open-Box Storage Solution
    The RocketStor 6618A features an "open-box" approach to storage, which grants customers the freedom to use their choice of drives, and customers can add drives as needed to meet the evolving performance or capacity requirements of the storage application. The eight removable hot-swap bays support any 2.5" or 3.5" SAS & SATA hard drive or SSD. Enterprise / NAS class drives are recommended for the RocketStor 6618A.
    Storage Expansion Ready
    The RocketStor 6618A's daisy-chain capability allows customers to link as many as six independent RocketStor 6618A units using a single Thunderbolt 3 host port.
