HGST 0S04012 Overview

Designed with an MTBF rating of 1 million hours for use in 24/7 always-on environments, the 8TB Deskstar 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS Drive Kit from HGST features a 8TB storage capacity, a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, a 128MB cache, a rotational speed of 7200 rpm, and a 3.5" form factor. While this drive is intended for use in NAS and business-critical environments, it is also suitable for general use at home and can store files such as music, movies, photos, documents, and more. Furthermore, Rotational Vibration Safeguard (RVS) helps anticipate drive disturbances and counteracts them, thus improving performance under strenuous conditions.

General Features
Rotational Vibration Safeguard
Rotational Vibration Safeguard has its own vibration sensors placed at the edges of the hard disk and on the edges of the drive's circuit board. If these sensors feel a vibration rippling through the drive, they can feed forward a signal to the actuator that controls the head's position. The actuator them compensates for the disturbance, counteracting it with an equal and opposite force. In this way, the head is able to "ride" the vibration and stay on track.
