An all-around image editing and organization application, ACDSee 20 from ACD Systems covers all aspects of the post-production process, ranging from editing and retouching to file management and sharing. Divided into various Modes, this software has distinct environments for performing various tasks, including a Manage Mode, Photos/View Mode, and Edit Mode. Within Manage Mode, you are able to organize, sort, and source files from a variety of locations, including cloud storage hosts and Microsoft OneDrive. Photos/View Mode is used to preview imagery as well as apply some image adjustments in a non-destructive manner. Finally, Edit Mode contains the wide range of tools for sharpening images, applying creative tilt-shift and blur effects, making selections, and adjusting color, brightness, and contrast. Additionally, a Dashboard Mode is also available for gathering data as to when and where images were taken, as well as compilations of metadata organized in graphs, file locations, and other pertinent practical details.

ACDSee 20
  • Microsoft OneDrive Integration - A OneDrive folder can be used as a root node for organizing, viewing, editing, and sharing of any image collection regardless of where it is stored.
  • Folder Structure - The folder tree is displayed in the same style as your operating system for seamless use with no confusion.
  • Organizational Tools - Categories, ratings, tags, color labels, and hierarchical keywords can be applied to imagery to help organize, sort, and locate specific files.
  • Quick Edits - You can easily remove red eye, rotate and flip images, repair, and crop and resize images.
  • Frames and Finishes - Borders, vignettes, and text can be added to an image, and the color, texture, and thickness of frames and effects can be fully customized. The edges of the frame area can also be blurred or raised, and a drop shadow can be applied.
  • Blur Tool - Useful for creative effects or to reduce noise, the Blur tool can be used in myriad ways, and a variety of shapes and strengths can be used to adjust its effects.
  • Smart Indexer - Helping to expedite viewing and loading of files, the Smart Indexer automatically catalogs folders while the computer is idle for faster load times. This function also refreshes when changes to a folder have been made.
  • Raw Files - All major camera manufacturers' raw file types are supported for viewing.
  • Filtering Flexibility - Photos mode has been updated with more ways to filter image collections, regardless of where the files are located, and customizable pop-ups can be set for as well as file highlighting to help locate specific images.
  • Right-Click - Right-clicking allows you to quickly switch between foreground and background colors, or the right-click function can also be used as an eraser with the Edit brush.

  • Gradients - Radial and linear gradients can be applied to images for applying gradual effects to an image.
  • Detail Preservation - When applying noise reduction, you can directly specify the amount of detail to be preserved for more neutral results.
  • User Interface - A customizable user interface lets you remove, move, stack, and dock several of the tool bars and panes to suit your own workflow.
Manage Mode
  • Collections - Helping to keep your image library organized, Collections are used to expedite sourcing imagery. Hierarchical structures can be used in Collection Sets and Smart Collections can be built to contain specific search terms to quickly return to the results at any time.
  • Convert from Lightroom - An existing Lightroom database can be imported into ACDSee while retaining the ability to view and edit your Lightroom collections.
