question

I want to buy some MFT lenses for my JVC LS300. Are all the Panasonic MFT lenses parfocal and will they all work with the LS300 rocker zoom?
Asked by: Denis T.
The Panasonic Lumix G X Vario PZ 45-175mm f/4-5.6 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens B&H # PA451754XB and the Panasonic Lumix G X Vario PZ 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens B&H # PA144235XS can be used with the LS300 and be zoomed by the rocker switch. These lenses are not parfocal and rely on Auto Focus to maintain focus. Also note, the LS300 must crop the sensor to work with these MFT format lenses.

Is the manual focus ring tied to the autofocus system or is it a true manual focus with measured markings? Asking because my Olympus 75-300 just failed and is not even usable as a manual focus lens. Hope this is clear?

B&H specs show the maximum magnification for this ...

B&H specs show the maximum magnification for this lens is 0.21x. A 2x multiplication factor to convert from micro 4/3 sensors to a 35mm equivalent for lens focal length and f/stop. Should the 2.1x max magnification be multiplied by 2 to yield a 4.2 max magnification?
Asked by: Robert
Yes all MFT lenses give two times the magnification of FF (full-frame) lenses-including the 100-300mm. It works from very close distances all the way to the Moon. I don't think f/stop has anything to do with magnification. The best way to get really close to the subject is with a MFT macro lens, which gives 2x magnification of a FF macro.
