    Epson P5000 reviews

SureColor P5000 Standard Edition 17" Wide-Format Inkjet Printer is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Printer B+ Traded in our 4800 for this printer. While it has a vastly upgraded ink system & dust management system, a few issues come to mind. 1. The pare suction system creates a high pitched scream whilst printing. Good luck sitting in the same room as the printer while it's printing. 2. I use roll paper. The printer cuts a scalloped, not straight. 3. The cassette paper tray is awkward to use. The 4800 was perfect. I called Epson to ask about issues. They are sending us a new cutter blade (?); and the screeching noise just is what it is. There is going to be a lot of internet hate if they don't address that noise.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I would only recommend this printer to someone I didn't like This printer is easy to set up and use, however, it is the worst printer I have ever owned with regard to nozzle clogs. Almost every print triggers a nozzle clogged warning followed by a lengthy cleaning process. Once one head is cleared, another head plugs up. I only printed a handful of 17 x 22 prints on the original ink set and maintenance tank that came with the printer... the rest was consumed in non stop cleaning. Considering the price of ink, the economics of this printer is totally unacceptable. I wish I had the 3880 printer back that I replaced and my money back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not for once-a-week printing The difference between the prints the P5000 produces vs my Epson 3880 is astonishing. Incredible detail in the shadows, and the Epson ICC profiles I use with it are dead on. 11 inks, including green and orange! Anyone considering this machine should understand that this is a production printer, designed to run a lot. If you print only once or twice a week, this is probably not the printer for you. It will have clogged nozzles that use a LOT of ink to clean. Print at least every 2-3 days -- no problem. I print both rolls and cut sheets, and, once you understand the fine points of switching, it will happily print from roll, cassette, or manual feed without any issues. The 17 x 22 cassette was a little weird to get used to, but it has worked flawlessly with a variety of papers.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't even unpack the printer.. The printer arrived in its 3' by 3', 110# plus commanding presence... I had not read the small print and expected a 3800 replacement.. 43# and size manageable. Then I read the reviews... "print constantly or you will have continuous nozzle clogs," "clearing nozzle clogs uses a lot of ink and is often not successful," "ink cartridges are about $100 each... ($1200 for a complete set!!!)," "the P5000 is really for a commercial shop not a photographer that doesn't print continuously" ... Why didn't I learn any of this from the glossy promotional literature? Naive, I guess. I donated the printer to an art school that had an advanced photography department... Oh yes, I ordered a P800. Didn't have the nerve to tell them I was replacing a P5000.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful big printer Wow, it is much bigger than the P 3880 that died late last year. The prints are beautiful, deep and rich. I have had no problem with the clogging of the print head, but I set my printer to self check periodically. That seems to work really well. I am really pleased with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm really liking this printer I have owned this printer for 3 months now and I can honestly say, I really like it. The prints have so much detail, sharpness, and richness. Because of the newUltraChrome HDX inks, I see anoticeableimprovement in the amount of detail in the blacks overprevious generation Epson printers. To date, I have had zero issues with this printer. I'm very happy I purchased it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This print is NOT for amateur printers This is an extraordinary printer and is an improvement over its predecessor, the 4900 - another excellent printer. The ink set provides beautiful gamuts and D-max. Image clarity and sharpness is unsurpassed. I could go on. BUT, I have to add that the printer MUST be used. Pigment based inks tend to clog in nozzles that are not used. Having 5 pro printers the P5000 is not in production every day. But, I do print with it every second day, at the latest, even if only a couple of nozzle check patterns or test prints. This keeps the nozzles clear and clean. It also keep me informed about its condition and ready to use the machine for those top quality jobs which deserve the high quality results that it provides. This machine prints slightly better in the shadows than its bigger brothers, the p7000 and p9000.
