The Dual Bass Drum Monorail Mic System Kit from MAY Miking System includes a Shure Beta 52A kick drum microphone, a Shure Beta 91A half-cardioid condenser low-frequency microphone, and a Dual Audio Vent Connector. It can be used as an acoustic drum miking system that allows mics to be permanently drilled into the shell of the bass drum, or mounted via a non-drill method for live stage or studio applications.

Each microphone is mounted to a monorail that enables you to position the mic pair closer to the batter head of the bass drum for more attack, or closer to the resonant head for more low end. Capture your sound from inside the drum, which is the origin of its tone, and provide maximum presence and isolation from ambience and outside noise.

  • BETA 52A - Dynamic Instrument Microphone

    The Shure BETA 52A is a dynamic supercardioid instrument microphone designed for capturing kick drum, acoustic bass, bass amplifiers and other instruments with similar frequency response and sonic character. The BETA 52A features a contoured frequency response, customized for capturing signal registering at low frequencies. The microphone accurately captures the attacks that contribute to the "punch" of the signal. The super-cardioid polar pattern insures the highest possible gain before feedback while minimizing noise at the off-axis sections of the microphone. A built-in locking stand adapter with XLR input simplifies installation when placing inside of a kick drum and it's steel mesh grill protects the element form damage.

    The low frequency response make it more than suitable for bass drum, acoustic and electric bass capturing.
    Supercardioid Polar Pattern
    The supercardioid polar pattern delivers the highest possible signal before feedback while minimizing noise at the off axis sections of the microphone.
    Neodymium Magnet
    The Neodymium magnet delivers higher gain levels than that of standard element magnets.

  • Beta 91A Boundary Microphone

    The Shure Beta 91A is a boundary microphone that can double as a kick drum mic, as it can capture the punch and attack of low-frequency instruments such as kick (bass) drums. It features a wide frequency response well suited for capturing a variety of audio signals such as organ and piano. The flat, boundary design also aides in producing a strong, solid low-end response, as well as make it easy to mount inside of a bass drum. The Beta 91A is ideal for both recording and sound reinforcement alike.
