Ikelite 47012 Overview

  • 1Description

Confirm the integrity of the watertight seal on your Ikelite underwater camera housing with this Vacuum Kit for 1/2" Accessory Ports. The bundle includes a valve, a hand pump with a gauge, and a tubing insert. All together, these components allow you to check for leaks and create a vacuum inside your housing, in order to protect your camera and lens against water damage. The kit is compatible with all Ikelite enclosures that have spare 1/2"-20 accessory ports, including most models with opaque white fronts. Just remove the port's plug and replace it with the valve. The kit can also be installed in place of the 1/4"-20 top mount on all DSLR housings made since 2009.

Simply secure one nut inside the housing in order to complete the valve installation. To avoid interference with controls, the vacuum valve has been designed with a low profile. The supplied waterproof plug is attached to the fitting to prevent accidental loss.

Ikelite 47012 Reviews

Vacuum Kit for 1/2" Accessory Ports on Underwater Housings is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good insurance for your gear This is a great way to have confidence that you are not going to experience a very expensive problem with your Ikelite housing.? Set up your camera and pump up the vacuum the night before your dive and check the level in the morning - if the vacuum is where you set it you should be good to go. Note that you should not leave the pump attached as it may leak through the mechanism, make sure you disconnect it and insert the plug in the housing. When you reinsert the tube to check the?pressure in the morning you will probably see?a small drop (perhaps 0.2 mmHg) this is from the removal/reinserting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it's supposed to do. I'm glad I ordered this vacuum. This is my first experience with underwater housing. I just bought a Sony a7r II and was scared to use it because I've heard horror stories of housings leaking. Under the advice of John at Ikelite, he advised me to get the vacuum system, this way I would be confident that there would be no leaks. The valve was easy to install. The YouTube instructional videos were easy to follow as well. I did followed the instructions exactly and left the vacuum attached overnight. I looked at the gauge in the morning and it had not moved, not even a hair. I used the camera in the housing that day and was very happy with the performance. To reverse the process was even easier. I would recommend this kit to everyone for peace of mind and to avoid a disaster.
