Lightweight, battery-powered, and featuring a unique roll-over operation, the black IRIScan Book 5 Wifi Scanner from IRIS will allow individuals who are constantly on the move to quickly and easily digitize their documents. Using an 8.5"-wide CIS, users can easily scan documents at resolutions up to 1200 dpi just by sliding the scanner over the pages. This design makes it easier to work with books, magazines, and other originals without damaging them. This model features built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, which allows it to instantly transfer and show your scans on Android and iOS devices via an app. Also, it can work quickly with a color scan speed as fast as 2 seconds for an A4-size document.

For adjusting settings there is a clear 1.5" color LCD and the scanner will then save scans directly to a microSD/SDHC card in JPEG and PDF formats. Additionally, it comes with a microSD card, a USB cable for charging and connection to a PC, and a transport pouch.

Bundled with the scanner are the powerful Readiris Pro OCR and IRISCompressor Pro software suites. Readiris lets users convert their scans, documents, and image files into editable files compatible with numerous programs. IRISCompressor will help make sharing, archiving, and indexing easier by effectively shrinking the size of your files.

IRIScan Book 5 Wifi Portable Scanner (Black) is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice and small I purchased the IRIScan for an upcoming family project. So I only tried it out to make sure it works. It works but I'm sure the images will be better with practice. One of the photos in the advertisements suggest you could scan from left to right but the instructions and test indicate it should only be used scanning top to bottom. This could be a problem getting into the book's gutter BH product information suggests that the purchase of a micro memory chip is required but one came with the device. The instructions on initial setup suggest that software should be downloaded first but for basic scanning it's not needed. The WiFi setup is not well executed. The WiFi link excludes having a WiFi internet connection. The product information doesn't clearly state that the product can be used with the USB cable. This is the easiest way to use the device.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT! ! ! ! TOTAL TRASH! ! ! ! It all hinges upon the design. The Scanner's eye is placed too far indented, so no matter which way you slide it, up, down, left, right, it will never meet the inner most section of text...meaning, it cuts off the first words on every page. Small books are a no-go! Ergonomically, this device hurts the hands after repeated scanning, since there is no place to hold it that isn't a sharp corner. The included software does not work as advertised. -PDF compressor software crashes instead of working. -OCR software does not recognize the scanner, so at the last minute, the manufacturers included an Instant Scan junk software which interfaces with the scanner in real time but does not allow you to change settings like color/black and white, DPI etc. -WiFi capability is worthless. It is not real time. It just allows you to look at the memory of the device remotely and download from it, but does not allow you to know if your scans are good or not as you are making them. -The Phone app doesn't work. -The OCR is not all that good. The software hangs up on large files...any time you make a change, it wants to apply that change to every imported page, so it just idiotically starts re-processing and re-reading the pages all over again, which takes an hour. -Bottom Line- This company needs to redesign this product. The Shape! The Software! The wifi! The Iris placement, The OCR! EVERYTHING. If you must buy a scanner, get the non-wifi version of this and save $30. As a scanner, this device actually works ok, so long as the text is a magazine or something with the text indented far enough to fit the scanner snug into the spine and roll outwards. Picture quality is good, impressive even, and it does well at getting things straight, even if the device is weird and painful to hold. Did I return my device? No. I have too much use for it, even despite its many limitations. But in reality, I'm still scanning with a cell phone on a tripod.
