Amazing lens for the price. Opens yet another dimension of photography
Not particularly great use
The magnification ring is too loose compared to many other lenses. I was hoping that it might be able to turn with more resistance. A constant magnification without the zoom ring may be better, particularly when shooting down from vertical, as there is a chance of bumping it. From what I've found, the lens is sharp at F/5.6 but not so much at F/8 and towards F/2. The F/2 aperture is much for this type of lens also because of the extremely shallow depth of field. The engineering of the lens could've been thought out more. Three to four stars.
A little effort goes a long way
Interesting lens for macro photography of flowers. It took a bit to get used to it but it stirred my creative juices.
Excellent for extremely detailed botanical photography
I use this lens for for images of plant parts 5mm in size, such as small flowers, grass/sedge scales, and tree buds. I do all photography handheld and am unsure why some online reviews of this lens indicate that handheld use isn't possible. I use generally f/8-f/16 apertures, fast shutter speed (1/160-1/200), and extremely high ISO (up to 6400 in dark situations, significantly less in full sun), and the camera's native flash and get images that, while not always exceptionally beautiful, contain useful details that are difficult to capture with other lenses. Botanical photography benefits from the extremely close focal distance of this lens - in all of these photos my hand is resting on the lens while holding the subject out of frame, so I'm generally able to get very stable shots that may be impossible with longer focus distances. Photography of mobile subjects is basically impossible, although I've got lucky a few times with slow-moving fellows.
A Very Challenging Lens
This super macro lens is the most challenging I've ever come across. It does one thing and one thing only: it makes 4x or 4.5x macro images. The depth of field is paper thin even at smaller apertures and really requires some knowledge of focus stack and a focus stacking rail to produce decent photos. The uploaded images show the potential and the limits of the DOF issue. This lens is not for everyone, but if one is up for a challenge with some time to work with this lens, I would recommend it.

Not top of the line but fun.
Great lens for photographers looking for a challenge. Not the highest quality glass but adequate. Great new perspective.
