    ASUS PG278QR reviews

ROG Swift PG278QR 27" 16:9 QHD Gaming Monitor is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 3.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works as advertised. Second to none for games. So-so for video, but that is not why I bought it. No dead pixels and smoother than anything out there with g-sync enabled. Worth every penny.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Couldn't be much worse! After looking around I decided to get this ASUS 27 Gaming Monitor to replace an ASUS 25.5 Monitor that I had been very happy with but was no longer available. The first thing I noticed after only minutes of use is that there is NO black coming from this monitor. When you have what should be a full black screen, it is actually a foggy gray color. This lowers the quality of EVERYTHING viewed on the screen as there is very little contrast between black and white. The second thing I noticed after a day or two was that there is a weird glitch with the monitor that moves the middle 2 or 3 columns of pixels off to a far side of the screen (usually the right, but it went to the left a couple times). This occurs almost on a daily basis, and sometimes more than once per day. Power cycling the monitor temporarily fixes the problem. When this happens, what is suppose to be displayed in the middle of the screen is squished together, and you can see the mouse pointer movement and graphics off at the far edge of the screen. Lastly, this monitor is supposed to be able to handle high refresh rates. I went to play a game (the specific title escapes me at the moment), and I selected to use the 165Hz higher rate. Instead of a sharp, solid image on the screen as I would expect. It had an odd flicker feeling. And when I moved my mouse around, it became a very intense flickering that was unusable. I've tried to work with the monitor to see if I could get used to things, but after about 3.5 months, I have simply had enough. This monitor shouldn't have been sold for over $600!! Having read some other reviews, the black issue seems to be better or worse on different monitors, so I am looking to exchange for a monitor that will hopefully actually have black and less other issues.
