Roland GO-61K Overview

The portable Roland GO:KEYS is a user-friendly music-creation keyboard for beginners and aspiring musicians. With its 10 performance pads, Bluetooth connectivity, song recorder, and innovative Loop Mix function, it allows anyone to build polished songs in real time, even with no previous music experience—straight out of the box.

The GO:KEYS features 61 touch-sensitive, full-size keys. Touch sensitivity adds dynamics to your playing—play lightly and the sound is soft, strike the key hard and it's loud. GO:KEYS offers 554 high-quality instrument sounds derived from Roland's acclaimed pro synthesizers. Use the intuitive category buttons to call up pianos, synths, basses, strings, guitars, brass, saxophones, and drums, and incorporate them into your Loop Mix jams.

The Loop Mix function lets you perform great-sounding music simply by selecting a genre and triggering loop phrases using single keys—without having to pay attention to pitch or timing. There are 1232 auto-accompaniment loops in genres including EDM, hip hop, trance, trap, rock, pop, funk, house, and more. The performance pads let you manipulate sounds like a DJ by adjusting pitch, filtering, and vibrato in real time with a simple motion of your fingertip left or right across the pads. And with the onboard song recorder, you can capture it all for immediate playback and sharing.

Bluetooth audio functionality allows you to wirelessly connect your smartphone/tablet to the GO:KEYS and use its built-in speakers to listen and jam along to your favorite music. When you need to dial down the decibels for quieter play, just plug-in a set of headphones.

Bluetooth MIDI functionality enables you to connect to dedicated apps that teach you how to play the latest songs or classical pieces. There is also a USB MIDI port for backing up your songs to a computer and recording in popular apps like GarageBand and others.

When inspiration strikes, the GO:KEYS is compact enough to throw in a carrying bag, while six AA batteries (available separately) supply all the power you need to play music anywhere, from camping trips to tour buses. The keyboard can also be powered via the included AC adapter.

This keyboard is not only compact but its also amazing. Its worth the purchase, it has different loops and the sound quality is decent. You could plug up to your computer to record. I 1000% recommend.

I had mixed feeling befor making this purchase. A lot of reviews said it wast a certified midi controller or had limited support. I used adobe audition as a DAW and was able to use full midi functionality as well as record music in the pianos data bank and save it to my computer. It saves as a midi file and adobe doesn't like midi files so I converted it to mp3 and viola. I made a full scale hip hop beat. Outside of that if you are a live performer, the sound on this is incredible as it is 128 polyphony and has additional connections for using separate speakers. I am super happy with this purchase.

Better than expected

My first response I didn't like the keys I knew that when I brought it after playing it for a little while it's fine. the real idea is you need a portable keyboard that's not going to break your back. If you ever use a roland before you know the sounds it sounds great. This thing has lots of great features. The sounds remind me of the Roland JV 1080. It even has a sequencer that you can create and store your songs. The looper function is amazing.

Great entry level keyboard

There are a few things you don't get with this keyboard (weighted keys chiefly among them), but the things you do far outweigh those you don't. There are over 500 instruments on this thing and it supports Bluetooth audio and midi. There are a lot of applications I've found for bluetooth that I wasn't expecting. You can connect to synthesia on an iPad wirelessly, and connect to a bluetooth soundbar or stereo so the somewhat dinky onboard speakers are much less of a problem than they first appear. There is a lot of bang for your buck here. If you're on the fence, I say go for it!

can this Roland Go Keys be hooked up to a PA system?
Asked by: Christina
The only output on the unit is a 1/8-inch headphone out. You can split that out to two 1/4-inch inputs to go into a stereo input on your mixing board. Use a cable such as the KOSMYCM2PM15
